I went to the Petsmart near my grandparents looking for an older companion cat for Bennie, my 5 year old DLH. Unfourtunately the oldest cat they had on premise was a 2 year old named Chester.
So we were a bit discouraged, but we figured we would greet the kitties and see if we clicked with one, and if not, we'd keep looking elsewhere. There was a group of skittish kittens, a hyper bengal kitten, and tabby cat who all didnt really fit what we wanted. Then there were the last two- Calvin and Keira.
My boyfriend liked Calvin, who was shaggy and a bit thin, but loving and friendly. He didnt connect as strongly with me though. I was busy fawning over Keira.
She was tiny, outgoing, and reached out and held my hand. Her little paw reached out and wrapped around my fingers- purring and mewling and I was sunk.
It didnt help she was basically my dream cat- I wanted a female black cat, and her tiny body was a plus-if that wasnt enough her name has been my favourite female name for years. It was destined I tell you!
So now she sits in her sanctuary, getting settled in. Bennies hissed at the door a bit but Im busy using the towl method- but if you have any ideas or suggestions they'd be appreciated!
