Amazing!  I usually start like the experts say, giving them 2 weeks apart: the newcomer in his/her own room with everything (s)he needs, and the rest of the furmily roaming the house as usual, while gradually exposing each to the others' scent(s) using a towel or cloth rubbed on each of them and shown to the others, followed by cracking the door to the newcomer's room and allowing supervised visual/sniffing, followed by introducing the furmily to the newcomer under supervision, until gradually they become adapted to one another and can all occupy the same space.

Well sorry to upset but this is a bitter sweet story, So Vader got very vicious with us humans only, he seemed to be very scared of males and would always be tense i gave him time until he tired to attack me one night and that was the last straw with him. Times before he had hissed and poped at me but this time he attack me and wasnt actting normal. once i calmed him down he was so scared he pooped himself, so i think some bad things happened to the poor guy, i couldnt afford or allow him to be like that becuase he could get crazy one day and hurt my son real bad so i decided to let him free. He was once a Feral and i could tell he didnt like humans anymore so as a test i opened the door and he darted out the door and ran into the forest i havent seen or heard from him sense. I feel really upset about all of this but i know he feels more at ease than he did here and where he was at one point.

You let him outside???

Please, please try to get a humane trap and leave food out for him. It's not fair to let him fend for himself outside. This was a cared for pet. He was scared and in a new place. Please try to help him get to a shelter.

actually he wasn't taken care of and that's why he acted the way he did. I have taken care of feral cats my whole life and when you hurt them they don't trust humans. And that excuse of he is a new car in a new house after almost three weeks wouldn't change my mind , because if he was to hurt my son that's my fault for taking him in. And the term let outside is used wrong, he ran outside on his own and ran as fast as he could away from humans.

Could you contact a Rescue or Shelter, that deals with feral cats, and borrow a humane trap.

And yes, please leave food out for him.

You don't have to bring him into your home, again, so your son won't get hurt, but by trapping him, and bringing him to a shelter that deals with feral cats, or semi-feral cats...they could assess him, provide him medical care, and re-hab him or place him in one of their colonies.

Contact one of the Rescues and explain the situation. They would help you out.

Oh no!

@boellp  Inky/Vadar is not a feral cat. He is an outdoor cat that was used to having food provided for him. He does not know how to survive outside on his own. The skills that feral cats have that help them to survive need to be learnt, he won't automatically know how to avoid danger and care for himself.

Please leave food and water outside of your house for him and contact a rescue to help trap him.

You said that he was hurt and that's why he started becoming aggressive? Could you tell us what happened? Did your son do something to scare him?

Please do everything you can to find Inky and get him into a home. He really needs to be taken care of, even if your family can't provide him with the home he needs.

nothing that we did cuased him to act this way it was prior to us having him that he must have had a bad time. My son is too young to even get near him like that, and none of use hurt animals. I havent seen him around , ill try to get him back but i dont think he will come anywhere near here, in the forest outside there is a nice river and a good area i wouldnt be suprised he stayed.

Pointing fingers won't help now. Even if he was fully feral, there's a way to get a feral to a new place outdoors. Feral cats need acclimatization in their new surroundings.

I echo what others have said. Please contact a local feral care group and ask them for trap. He may still be nearby. Even if he is 100% feral, he needs to be trapped and placed in a safe outdoor enclosure with shelter, food and water. He needs to be in there for several weeks and only then can he be let out into the surrounding environment where he would still need to be fed and cared for.

For future reference, it can take months for a new cat to become acclimated to resident cats in a new environment. I'm sorry this experience became stressful.

I wish you had asked for our help while this was going on. You picked him up 2 weeks ago, and never mentioned there was a problem. We could have explained introductions and scent swapping to you.

Please do set out food for him and hopefully he will come around and can be trapped soon.

@boellp....you did mention before that Inky/Vader is afraid of males.

Would you be able to go with your wife, into the forest, and she could call for him. He would more likely go to a female voice.

Also, if you leave food outside your house, can you also put a litterbox outside, and some of his toys,...that way he may come back on his own, especially if your wife calls for him.

Try to entice him with the food he likes.

Once you contact one of those Rescue groups, make sure to tell them about the part of being fearful of males.

Yes, please don't leave him to fend for himself. You said yourself that he is a former feral. This is not a cat who can live on his own.
