@Amrutha, have you talked to your vet?  You might call them and tell them your situation and they may have an adoption area or know of someone who recently lost a cat or has expressed interest in getting another one or two.

@Alicia88  I can try that, thanks for suggesting! I'm not sure they will agree to post them for me though because I have to enroll them in their rescue program for them to post the cats on websites or show them to people. I'm not sure how it would work out with Petfinder so I will definitely try that, thank you! And @WhatsOneMore  thank you that's a great idea actually! I'll be sure to try that.

You can put up ads on Craigslist, but it might not be safe.

Craigs List is not recommended for rehoming pets. [emoji]128533[/emoji]

@Smile123  I already tried ads on Craigslist but as @sarthur2  said it isn't recommended and the responses we got from those ads weren't too great-the people were either shady or were just looking to waste our time, or both. A lot of them pretended that they would take the cat but just wouldn't show up, and some of the people who showed up had no idea how to care for a cat and it was clear that they weren't prepared at all to own or take care of anything. And some people would just back off if I questioned them at all and stop responding. And it's really hard to rehome cats with a rehoming fee when there are so many who are just selling kittens and cats for free. @Tarasgirl06  I contacted some of the rescue organizations listed on PetHarbor so thank you for that idea! Unfortunately it doesn't look like they will let me post the pets on my own but hopefully one of the rescues will respond and let me know if they can do it.

Good luck with the rescues.  And those of us who care and work in the rescue/advocacy community advise NEVER to post on Craigslist, for the reasons you've already found out.  Many innocent lives are lost because people do this.  We are trying to get Craigslist to stop allowing people to post living beings on the site.

Ive actaully seen pets that are at shelters being listed on craigslist! I know it may not be the best place but i would take my chances on finding someone good on ctaiglist rather than giving them to a shelter that DOES kill!
I found my current cat on craigslist listed as a rescue cat! And love her!

The CATS are all wonderful, and I'm not against advertising cats in reputable shelters on sites.  What I oppose is people giving cats away without any kind of pre-screening or protection for the cats on this site, which is notorious for allowing this and as a result, unknown numbers of innocent living beings have been at risk and worse.

@boellp  Yes someone has currently asked after the other two, which is great news! However we still aren't sure whether they will take both or whether they're serious about it. Hopefully it works out! Once again thank you to everyone here, all the help and advice is much appreciated!

I'm super excited for this Saturday-Inky will be going to a great home. @boellp  thank you so much for being willing to make the drive halfway for him, we are very happy he is getting such a good home. And thanks once again to everyone here-you've all been wonderfully supportive and it's really helped a lot. Also the people who were asking after the other cats have said that they would be willing to take both Tawny and Fluffy, so we are also very hopeful about that. Once again thank you to everyone for all your support and well wishes it looks like things are looking up!
