If this is not the right spot admins please move as it is obvious Joey must have been a pet at one time. He has been spending nights inside for nearly two weeks now. He likes me or the dog to be near him but he is slowly getting comfortable in the whole house. One thing he has resisted is a three level cat stand we have in our living room. I have put him on the bottom level, he jumped down. I have tried to entice him onto it with the magic stick. No way, he's not having it, he seems to think it belongs to those other cats, the ones who were here first.

Last night I went downstairs and two black paws and a black head peeked at me from over the edge of the top level of the stand. Joey had finally gotten up the courage and confidence to use the stand and he was so pleased with himself. And So,So cute. :) He rolled and twisted and tried hanging over the different four edges to see what I and the whole room looked like from upside down. He was clearly greatly pleased with himself. He's a good sized cat and I worried he might fall off but he settled down and went to sleep up on the top.

Then, in the middle of the night he came down to snuggle with me on the chesterfield in the living room. I've been sleeping down there just to be close in case there's a cat squabble. Of course I'm anthropomorhising but I interpret his desire to come and snuggle with me in the middle of the night an extension of how pleased he was with himself for finally getting up there and wanting to share his good feeling with me. He has a snuggle with me most nights but last night he stayed for hours and it was hot and I was under the cover and no way I was going to move and disturb this cat I'm in love with who chose and chooses to be with me. So today I'm tired and stiff and will probably conk out this afternoon. But Joey is worth it. He really is an amazing cat. :D

What great progress for Joey!!!! One of the feral cats I brought inside really resisted our cat trees too. It took him months to begin using them. He prefers the cubby holes. I also had a cat tree I took apart and only use the bottom base. That is what he prefers.

I bet the kitty snuggles were the best!!

Thanks for sharing the update!
