I am extremely concerned about my cat. I have $0 & litterally only took her in because she was pregnant. My best friend just got her PHD in veterinary medicine two years ago but lives over an hour away. She comes in to town every once in a while but I fear I may need to do something now. Ive taken on caring for several abandoned kitty's and can barely afford their food. I figure something is better than nothing but I may be in over my head. Any ideas?

Dark is not good, it could be backed up stool or blood, or could be blood from prey she has eaten. Is she eating and drinking at all? Is there any way to keep her confined somewhere where you can watch her? You have to see if she is passing urine and stool. If she is, and is eating and drinking, I would monitor her for a while. If she is not doing any of the above she most likely has an obstruction and will need to be seen by a vet ASAP. Is there any way to E-mail those pictures to your friend, maybe you could convince her to come down , it would be very helpful. Please keep us posted, I hope someone comes on that may recognize what is wrong. I'll pray for her to get better, all the Luck! :vibes:

This does not look good to me. Is there a no kill shelter in your area that would take her? I know you want to keep her but she is very sick and needs to be spayed ASAP. Call around and see if any vet will help you out first. Call the shelters and see if they would treat her(not put her to sleep). I don't know if there are any shelters like this in your area. We have one here that will do everything to treat them. It is worth a try! They would not give her back to you but her life is the more important right now.

I have a female cat that we have had for about 5 or 6 years.  She frequently throws up and depending on the time between eating and heaving it can look dark brown.  The body generally has mechanisms to stop feces from backing  up into the stomach.  I would also think that if it were feces , it would leave a very distinct odor.  I know there are times when my cats go, and the adjacent room smells.  The question still remains is she eating and drinking fluid and is she losing weight.  Feeding kittens in itself is demanding and stressful.   Her eyes look a bit glassy and droopy and she looks tired in the picture. ( which I am sure every mother cat with kittens tugging on her would feel.

Are you sure that is vomit and not the squirts.  I noticed that the tissues have some green areas (dark areas) which to me look like undigested food (greens, grass.  Her coat appears normal , is it shiny or dull and what is the condition of the coat.   Other than the fluid, how does she appear.  Does she have energy, how old are the kittens.

Shes doing much much better! I was extremely concerned because she was vomiting every ten minutes or so but it has subsided and shes doing much better. I panicked because her vomit was so dark and I was worried that it could be blood and bile mixture. I don't wanna loose her but I did tell my mom that we may have to give her up to get her help. Id miss her but if she needs help I want to get that for her. Thanks for your input. I need all the advice I can get!

My siamese cat eats a lot and at times he rejects the food and to be honest it looks like your picture.  Like I said you need to watch that she is eating and getting fluid.  The SPCA and Humane Society might be able to help so before you talk of giving her up, check with non profit organizations to see if any in your area can check her out.
