We got lola a few months ago and on her chin which is white, she had little black dots and a bit of a sore bottom lip. The vet said it was cat acne. We were obviously feeding her from a saucer and the vet said previously she may have been feeding out of a plastic bowl which could have caused this. About a week later she was well on the mend and within a couple of weeks it all cleared up. Now she has a sore /swollen looking bottom lip. Does the acne present itself like this sometimes?? We have been wiping her lip with warm water on a cotton wool pad for the last two days (no improvement yet) can it be brought on by stress? Our other cat had kittens 4 days ago.

I have dealt with chin acne in one of my cats but he never had a sore swollen bottom lip with it. Is there any way you can take a picture of her lips and send it to your vet? You could also try to post a picture of the issue with Lola's lip on here to see if anyone has any idea's. We are not vets but someone may be able to give you an idea of what is going on based on personal experience.

Has there been any recent changes to her food or litter? It may also be possible that this is an allergy issue. I do not have much experience with allergies in cats.

Thanks, I'll try and get a photo. I never considered an allergy!!? We have just changed the litter to paper pellets inside of clumping, it isn't supposed to have any chemicals.
