So my poor Kittie ( Male 3 yrs old ) has been having the worst explosive diarrhea ive ever seen a cat have, And I've had many cats. I feel it's the wet food I've been giving him, friskies, but my other two cats don't seem too have an issue with the wet food. Cypress isn't even crazy about the wet, but loves dry food and I've been feeding him special dietary vet food by canin. The vet also prescribed a pro biotic, and he finished all of it but is STILL having horrible poops. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Should I only feed him the dry food? Is there a special wet food I can buy for all my cats but to especially help cypress? Help me!!!! I don't want my house to be a litter box anymore but I love my cat too much to get rid of him!

Sorry  no one has responded thus far.  So, Cypress started having this diarrhea when you started him on the Friskies wet, is that right?  If that's the case, then I would stop that food immediately and see what happens.  You might try giving him one of the Fancy Feast CLASSIC's line, perhaps Turkey and Giblets, or Chicken Feast, but I would stop any wet food first and see if it stops, then let his bowels have a break for awhile.  If that doesn't help, then try feeding him boiled chicken and rice for a few days.  Just poach a plain chicken breast (no bones, no seasonings in the water) and while it's cooling, use the liquid to boil up some white rice.  Shred up the chicken and mix it with the rice.  You should feed him that and only that for a few days to really give his bowels a rest.  The only thing you could add to that food might be a good probiotic and possibly some slippery elm bark syrup http://www.thecatsite.com/t/314096/some-questions-about-slippery-elm-bark

I guess he's been checked for parasites, yes?

I think Mrs. Green Jeans is right about stopping the Friskies to see if that settles his problem. You've taken your kitty to the vet, so s/he's probably ruled out parasites. Of course, you could always get a second opinion - I've had to do that before and was thankful I did!

Is he neutered? We once had a kitten about 7 months old who would go anywhere but the litter box. His poop was incredibly smelly and runny - almost looked like cow pats. It all cleared up as soon as we had him neutered. Have no idea why, but was certainly grateful for the change in his little habits!

BTW, you probably know by now that no two cats are alike. Just because your other two can eat Friskies with no problems doesn't mean the third one can. They're as different as we are, and even pickier about their food!

Good luck with kitty. Let us know how he progresses.

You need to get him on a good quality probiotic. Here's a list of good ones that are human grade but safe for cats. Read through the write up and there are instructions for dosage. I use nexabiotics for all my cats.

I would highly suggest you upgrade to better quality canned food. My outside cat gets terrible diarrhea on friskies. He does well on a diet of half homecooked and half fancy feast classic.
