I worked 3 weeks straight once
I worked two weekends in a row because the people who were originally assigned to work couldn't for one reason or another and no one else volunteered. Got the following weekend off and it was back to work again. Management knew I had worked 3 weeks straight but couldn't have cared less. No "thanks for working an extra weekend" or some sort of recognition or appreciation
The overtime was really nice but I was exhausted, especially since weekends were at least 8 hours days and involved going back and forth between two buildings all day.

I'd keep calling the insurance company and bug them about the insurance cards. Ask to speak with a manger or someone higher up. The insurance company should be the one dealing with replacement cards, not some third party.
Asking to speak with someone higher up won't work--I can't contact a person. I got the phone number for member services that was on my coworker's insurance card, but they won't even try  to connect me without an account number that I don't have because they never sent me my cards!

@Tallyollyopia    so glad to see you are back...had been worried about you..

Working 3 weeks straight is really impossible.. Glad to hear you have 3 days off...please rest up..

Back when I was in the second year at a community college for ultrasound; I had to schedule myself for routinely having one day off every 2 weeks..and that continued for an entire year.. Between me having classes at the college, my clinical rotation and he having to work for some money, well I cannot believe that I managed it all..

On the day off, you would think I would collapse, but no--I had to study...but at least I could stay in bed for a lot longer.

make sure you take care of yourself...
Ouch. Well, at least you survived! (I hope you did well on your test.)

Three weeks straight would be horrible!  I'm currently on a "staycation."  Started yesterday lol.

Glad you're back, Tally!

They only got a tiny bit of the gravy each - just enough to coat the pills before popping them in their mouths.

Poor Mickey must think he's in a nightmare.  We had to take the food away last night and he thinks he's starving to death.  He got used to having all the food he wanted and then it got cut off.  And I don't think he cares that I promised he can eat as much as he wants when he gets home this afternoon.
I remember when I had to keep the food up before the cats could go in to get fixed. You would have thought that I was torturing them! And I wouldn't let them out to hunt either--what a bad human!

@Tallyollyopia   try the website.  You should be able to print a temp cards and request a new permanent card.
I tried the website. It has a feature that is supposed  to let me log in with my social, as opposed to my account information, but it says I don't exist! The hardest thing about this is that they've been pulling money out of my check ever single week for the plan I signed up for that they won't send me the cards for! (Sorry for ranting--it's just frustrating.)
Call again & absolutely insist on speaking to a supervisor.
I might call the technical help site again and get them to transfer me over to a real live person, but the number they originally gave me just left me on hold. I was working all that week so I couldn't wait for more than two and a half hours--and that's a long time to be on hold!

You should be able to get a phone number from the bank of any business taking money from your check on a routine basis.  This is probably not the number you need to get the cards, but it should be a way to get a number to a live person.

Have you been to the home page of their website? Sometimes the telephone number you need is there.

That's a good idea. I have to stay up to go vote today anyway, so I'll swing by the bank afterwards and see if I can get a phone number from them.

Yes, one of the numbers I called gave me the website (until that point I didn't even know what  the company was).

@Tallyollyopia   When I find an impossible 'phone tree', I just keep hitting "0" or any bunch of numbers; most of the time it takes me to a customer service person..

If not, then I call and try to find someone, anyone, anywhere who can help me..  or if it has voice recognition, I just keep saying, "customer service", "service rep", "real person" --- it usually gets me someone..

Yes, I have been on hold for an hour..

One time the batteries in both my old cordless phones went out on me and I was dealing with my corded landline.. it is outrageous...

If this does not work, then I would call someone in the state house...insurance department...

Good Luck!!

Mickey snuggled up in my arms for a while last night, so it looks like I've been forgiven.  Then this morning, he was loving up on me and nuzzling.  I thought he was being lovey, but it turns out they'd all pigged out and emptied the food bowl last night and he was trying to get me to go fill it.

Well, I voted.  And now I'm gonna take a nap so I can find out in a few hours if the country is going to burn or not.

I've tried, but I just cannot get into Pinterest.
It actually is changing my life for the better.   And helping tremendously with my management of mild ADD.  I have tons of lists of things I like, want to buy, etc., all over the place, and finally I can not only bookmark a site, but have a picture of what it was at that site that I wanted.  So much of what I do is on "Secret" boards...I have one for each room of my house, with pictures of decorating ideas, furniture I like, fabrics, etc, I have boards for clothing I want to buy when I have an extra check, for stuff I want to buy for Hekitty...It helps me organize things.  AND I find lots of funny cat stuff on there!  That is NOT to be sneezed at!

I'll have to try both of those tomorrow, when I'm fighting with the insurance company again.

Now, about the election; all of us humans voted today and I was talking to AWM to discover--that our ballots were different. For instance, on the ballot I filled out was a position that had no one running for it, so I wrote in a name, but AWM's ballot didn't have  any positions on it without someone running for it. I find that slightly disturbing, especially considering that we voted at the same place.

I am still looking for a job.  I have one at Amazon.  Orientation is Nov. 15th, not sure when the start date would be.  It is 2 miles from my house and I would not have to wear 'business' clothes.  It isn't the part-time position I applied for it is full time 3pm - 12:30am W - S. It pays $13 something an hour.   Part of me loves the thought of this job, the realistic part says if it doesn't kill me the first week I will survive.  How many 50lb boxes will they have? seriously, most of my Amazon purchases are light weight.  I also love that I will be home with the cats in the morning since DD doesn't wake up until noon, she's a night owl.

Yesterday I got a call from a temp agency for a job that is a 50 min. drive across the bay ($5.00 bridge toll) on a good day, pays $15.50 an hour and is a full time temp job through February with the possibility of a permanent position..  The place I would be working at, not for, has a bus from my town to their place of business for employees.  Not sure I would be able to take advantage of it.  I assume I will need casual 'business' dress.  I have searched at my local Goodwill for a couple of shirts and my sister sent me some that are too small for her to go with my eclectic skirt collection.  I don't have this job, but I have an interview for it on Friday.  It would be a foot in the door to a more professional job and to learn new skills.  I would be scanning docs and other clerical work.

I am torn.  I need income yesterday.  I am still getting bills from my surgery in April
.  $7,000 in the last 3 days.  I am really mad.  I was told I wasn't responsible for the $5,000 bill 3 months ago so I did not contest the insurance company and now it is too late.  I only had 120 days to do it and the doctor's office cashed the portion of the bill that they did pay which also nullifies any chance to contest the insurance companies decision.   I am dreading calling the doctor's billing office but will tackle that tomorrow.  Not sure if I should take prozac or be a *itch.

On the fun side of my life, Eclipse had the runs and was vomiting yesterday so I took him to the vet to make sure it wasn't a liver or kidney issue from his travels outdoors.  All his tests were normal so it was probably the treats I picked up at the cat show over the weekend.  Now I have to give him 2 pills once a day.  The first pill in a pill pocket worked like a charm.  The 2nd was bigger and discovered.  Now all pill pockets are suspect.
Got a syringe from the vet and mixed the crushed pill with tuna water and shot it in his mouth.  He spent the next five minutes trying to spit it out and did not want any tuna!  I think he got a little of it in him.  The vet knows me and gave the first 2 doses yesterday as a shot.   I will say it was much easier to clean up than all the diarrhea and vomit yesterday.  It was a long day.  Good thing I picked up another bottle of Nature's Miracle.  I think Eclipse is not the only kitty with GI issues due to the treats.  At 10pm last night DH grumbled that one of the cats had pooped on the bed.  It was nothing compared to what had be 'laying around' earlier in the day.  Washed the sheets and when I was putting on clean ones I found more dribbles on DH's dirty clothes.  Yes, GI issues, the gift that keeps on giving.

I suggest you go with the temp agency, because Amazon is reputed to treat its employees really badly. I talked to AWM, and she says it's not too late to contest the bill, because it's been less than a year. Good luck! And poor Eclipse! I hope he feels better soon. I do have a question though; is Eclipse an inside or outside cat? Is it possible that he ate a poisoned rat? It's about the right time of year for poison to be lain.

A dental recheck for Emma today. Everything seems to be healing fine
I don't have plans yet for the rest of the day. I'm going to try to avoid all media. I'm very disappointed about the big news
The next four years will be interesting to say the least.

Good news about Emma.  Time flies - it seems like yesterday that she was just having her dental!

I'm with you about avoiding the media.   It's times like these that I really appreciate TCS.

I'm very happy about the outcome of the election, but I plan to avoid the media, as well.  They do nothing but lie and twist the facts and I'm not interested in seeing them continue to do that or seeing them backtrack and change their tune because Donald Trump won the election.  Whichever direction they choose to go, I'm not interested.

You'll have to tell us how the amazon job goes, if you decide to take it.  My understanding is that the heavy lifting isn't the problem so much as the kneeling and bending, plus the constant speed one has to keep up.  I really hope you get the clerical job.  Hopefully putting together a wardrobe will be fun and not too stressful.

Do you have any proof that you were told you weren't responsible for the $5,000 medical bill?  If you even have a scribbled dated note, it might be worth getting in touch with the office that regulates medical insurance in your state and at least running the problem by them.

How is Eclipse?  Has he recovered from his treats yet?

New AC/heat unit installed this morning.  This is good.  Maintenance man promises new gasket for freezer unit by the end of next week, so I'll be able to quit knocking icicles off of the top of the freezer.  It's getting ready to rain here.  Think I'll make hot chocolate.

An acquaintance of mine has the exact same job and she loves it. The pay is so good compared to the supermarket bakery she was in before. She mostly does scanning with one of those little machines - she is counting stuff as I understand it. I asked her whether it wasn't boring. She said no, the time goes by so fast. She also works at night & she loves that shift.

The vet visit took all of 5 minutes
There's a few sutures left but they should dissolve on their own soon. I can resume  brushing Emma's teeth again
The vet said the manual brushing action helps more with plaque removal than the toothpaste itself. The questionable canine tooth looks fine so we're just going to keep an eye on it. The vet didn't charge for visit

I think someone abandoned a pitbull-type dog outside the shelter
The shelter wasn't open yet and there was a dog tied to a light pole outside by the leash and no one was around. Another woman noticed as well and went to check on the dog. I mentioned it to the front desk person when I checked in with Emma and the person was surprised and said she would page someone to check on the dog. The dog was gone when I left the hospital. I hope someone from the hospital brought the dog inside.

A local mall is already decked out with full holiday decorations
Sears was even playing Christmas music
It is way too early to think about Christmas and other December holidays. The little market across the street already has the crates and boards ready to lean their first of several orders of Christmas trees against. The trees always arrive the week before Thanksgiving on a huge flatbed truck.
