Hello everyone,
I've had my cat for around two years now and she's always been quite a small wee thing and apparently because she was fixed she wouldn't be getting any bigger, but recently she's gotta quite big, not as in fat, but taller and wider? I'm not an expert on cats, but it would be nice to be told if she's just had a growth spurt or she's not actually fixed. Side note: she's also gotten fluffy

My boy seems like he is still growing and he is 2.5 years old. He's also some large mixed mutt of a cat with super long limbs and 13 pounds as of last week. My female is 1.5 years old and shes pretty petite but still growing ever so slightly (mostly thinning out but she seems just a little taller lately). It really depends on the breed but most cats will get a majority of growth by 14 months with some slight growth continuing until they are 2; some breeds will keep growing past that point and other breeds will hit their full growth by 1 year.

I don't think the spay or neutering play any part in size other then it can slow down their metabolism ever so slightly but that can be negated with good exercise and nutrition (mine all score perfect on body size and always get complements on good muscle tone). My male was neuter at 2 pounds and a under 3 months old and he's huge. My female was spayed at 7 months old because of health concerns and she's tiny. I also am pretty sure nutrition and exercise play a part as my female had poor nutrition until she came to me (we are talking orange chalk like poop the first time she used the litter box, just wrong and she was 1 pound at 4 months old) and she's never really grown. She can barely see over my males back and weighs in just under 7 pounds.

As to the not really fixed, you'd have to verify with vet records. My local clinic does a little tattoo on the tummy if spayed/neutered or ear tipped if feral. But my girl got spayed at our actual vet because of health concerns and she has no outward signs of being spayed.

Cats will continue to mature in their skeletal structure--each kitty will develop according to their own bodies and breed. I wouldn't worry about it---fixing a cat doesn't always mean their growth will be stunted. My boy isn't huge, but he's also not tiny and I fixed him at 6 months. His sister was also fixed and she was so small and slight until about 2-3 yrs of age--then she got longer and, over the years, a bit...well...chubby ;) They will both be 17 this December :D

On a side note-are you a long hair person? The name gave you away. I am too ;)

Don't worry about the double post, thank you for your help, I didn't realize that vets did that type of thing, I'll have to check in with the vet to make sure :)
