Hello everyone,

I love these babes and fear them being euthanized should I bring them into the shelter. I would never forgive myself and am far too invested to let anything happen to them.

Are shelters generally a good way to help re-home kittens? I got a kitten from this very shelter years ago and they are very strict about their adoption process. They require a background check, have a thorough application process, and make sure that the kittens are up-to-date on everything they need health-wise before they are adopted out.

Is this a safe bet for my kitties? I have had no luck finding them homes and they are at 19 weeks of age now. I want them to have the kind of health care and attention that they deserve.

Please help. Any information would be wonderful and very deeply  appreciated.

Sincerely,

Whale

If it is a no-kill shelter and they have room, yes. You could also check with a local cat rescue and see if anyone has room. We are at the tail end of the kitten season so some shelters may be full. Also, if you haven't already I'd recommend trying to get the feral mama spayed to prevent more kittens. My city does a $20 spay of feral cats; you can see if your area has something similar.

If these kittens are socialized, just to adopt them out, yes it should be safe.   And if you fostered them I suppose they ARE nicely socialized.

However, semiferale, not handleable cats is another story.  In many shelters they are immediately pts.

So, these kittens should be OK with them, but with this shy momma find some other solution.  Make perhaps a TNR with her?

Ie, spay, and relaease... She is used to living outside, so this is no crime.   And if you can have here as your outside kitty, it may even be really good solution.
