I made an appointment this afternoon to cremate my best pal, Mocha. Not sure if I should capture the event on video. She looks so peaceful and finally in no more pain after dealing with tongue cancer, wasting away from 11.5 to less than 5 pounds.

Really sorry for your loss of Mocha. She is now in perfect condition in a perfect place. If you wish to video, then you should. Personally I feel seeing a loved one cremated or buried once is more than enough. Viewing again for me would only support more sadness during a time when one is struggling to remember the good.

I'd say better to film and decide later you don't want to look at it than to wish you had.  I'm so sorry for you and your kitty Mocha.  My Garfy had cancer too and he wasted away to almost 5 pounds.  It's devastating.  Hugs.

I did record it. From a distance because I was told not to get to close to the furnace. I had brought Mocha in a pet bed, with her wrapped in a towel. I spent 1 1/2 days with her..I am actually glad there was a holiday when crematoriums were closed so I had that extra time. I placed her in the cardboard box, then as she was taken away, I turned on the camera. Nothing much to it...just putting the box into the furnace and closing the door. Lots of waiting. One regret was not filming placing her in the box, but it would be awkward since I only had 2 hands. I regret not saying hey wait, bring her back so I can say goodbye one last time and film her being taken away. But I had plenty of time in the 6-7 weeks since I learned of her cancer, to say goodbye and tell her the years she was with me were the best ever in my life.I had only 5 hours of sleep in 2 1/2 days so I wasnt thinking clearly. But she is with me now and will always be.

I'm so sorry, and I do remember that lack of sleep.  I hope when or if you feel up to it, you can write a tribute to her with pictures, if you haven't already, and tell us about her life. She sounds like a sweet kitty.

I am very sorry for the loss of your sweet Mocha. (((Hugs))).

No, I was not there for my 2 cats' cremations (they had to be cremated about 500 miles away as there was no one here who would do it locally). I still miss my boys. Peace.

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your precious Mocha. I am so glad you had time to say goodbye, I'm sure you will treasure those memories in the years to come. She knew she was loved, and when she went she left behind a piece of her heart to replace the one she took from you. She would never want you to be so sad when remembering her, try not to dwell on the end but rather celebrate having that sweet girl in your life. You were so good to her, helping her through her ordeal, you will surely be blessed for your love and kindness. The bond you share will never be taken from you, use it to send and receive the love you two share. Take care and know we are here for you if you need us or want to help some other grieving soul.......RIP beautiful Mocha, you will never be forgotten and will be forever held in a loving heart!

Thank you everyone for their kind words and support. I didn't take many photos of Mocha, and with my horrible point and click camera, most came out blurry. However, this pretty good photo says a lot. She's saying, hey there, I'm here for you and I love you, now give me food :-)

I'm so sorry for your loss. She was lovely

She is at peace now. She is whole, healthy and strong again. She is being cared for very lovingly at the bridge. She will watch over you with lots of love until the day comes when she gets you back again.
