need some info about cats
Couple days ago I found a cat with newborns babies in my backyard (6babies).
The mom cat has not collar or anything ... probably a stray cat.
Here in Az.in so hot outside and in a "monsoon season" and when it rains all the water goes to the same area where they are .
Im  cat lover and I don't have the heart to just ignore them..
Anyway I decide to  use the dog crate  and bring them inside my house... they are lock up and but can't keep them  first because I don't have $ for vaccines or wherever it needs to get done like fix, vaccines etc...
Im afraid of all the illness that cats can give to me  and to my small kids (1y, 4y .7y.9y)... they don't touch them or anything ...but im worried so much...
I don't know what to do..I don't want to send them to animal shelter because im afraid of they get hurt or kill.
The mom cat is friendly she let me pet her and be close to her and close to the babies.
Anybody in Az Or anybody that can give some ideas or info about resources, how can I help them(food,litter... .. )
So far I try to help them but I don't have so much experience taking care of cats.

.!!!!!#THANK YOU!!!!!!

(They born 31August)

Welcome to TCS! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

First, thank you for rescuing this mom and her week-old babies. You did the right thing by bringing them in from the elements.

Mom needs kitten chow available 24/7 along with water, and she needs wet cat food 3-4 times a day to support nursing 6 kittens. I see water and dry kibble in the picture! [emoji]128077[/emoji]

They need to stay with mama for at least 8 weeks, preferably longer. It's good that mama is friendly. Kittens are too young for vaccines now, and mom can wait too. They look healthy!

Where in Arizona are you? Give me a city and I will look for a no-kill shelter for you where you can eventually take them. It is possible you can be a foster for them, and the shelter will provide vaccines, spay/neuter, and adoption services. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Everything you have done so far is amazing. The best you can do now, given your circumstances, is to contact a rescue or shelter about them.

Don't worry too much about getting diseases. There are very few they can give you (ringworm is one). But I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Feed mommy the best wet food you can so she has plenty of nutrients for her and the kittens. Providing her with a soft bed, food and a litter box, you can now just let her do her job.

Fingers crossed you find a rescue to help her.

Okay. She has referred you to some places. Did you offer to foster for the Welfare League that responded to you, or just ask if they could take them? Ask if you can foster the family for them.

Since summer is kitten season, most shelters are full still. Others will sometimes take them at 8 weeks to put them up in Pet Smart stores for adoption, or adoption through their own websites.

Call or email and ask about fostering until time for adoption. Let me know what happens.

  1. Are you, or is anyone in your home, pregnant?
  2. Do they have a flea infestation?
If the answer to both questions is "No," I don't think you need to worry about getting diseases from them.  I do think it's a good idea to keep the kids away, however -- even responsible kids may not know how to handle cats in a way that the cat is comfortable with and you don't want to stress the momma cat or get the kids scratched for trying to make friends.

It the mother is friendly, chances are she's a pet who has gotten lost; I wouldn't expect that from a feral who has just given birth.  She may be chipped; at some point you need to take her to a vet or shelter and ask them to scan her for a chip; this should be free and they won't take her away from you and kill her or something.  You may also want to take pictures and put up "Found Cat" posters in local grocery stores and at shelters.

And all of us would like some pictures, too.  We're all fiends for kitten pictures.

Welcome to TCS; you've come to the right place and we're very glad to have you.  And I agree with @sarthur2; Thank you for taking in these little ones.

Keep reaching out.  At some point, there will be someone able to help.

If you can foster them for just a little while, you will give them a chance.

And I agree at how sad it is that so many pets are abandoned,  That's why what you are doing will make such a difference.

I wasn't sure what to say ... so I asked them if they can take them in..
Also Margret Margret you right I need.to.figure out if she havea chip.or.belongs to someone else...

When I founded her she was like angry..she doesn't let me be close to them, she bit me in the leg, and act angry every time I try to get near them... I bring food, water and a little bit of milk and even when she was eating she was "angry"... for two day I try to get her thrust and until yesterday she started to be nice and b ok whit me be clos to her and close to her babies.
Also the day that I found her was in the morning and by next day she was gone, she take her babies. But by later next day she come back...

It's okay. Just email back and ask if you can foster for them. If they say no, call and ask the others that she referred you to if you can foster for them. Hopefully one of them will say yes or be able to help in some way.

The cat was "angry" towards you because she did not know if you might hurt her babies, so she was in protective mode. It's wonderful that she let you get them the next day! She needed help, and you did the best thing for them bringing them into your home.

Although I agree that the mama should be checked for a chip, I do not have a whole lot of sympathy for owners who do not spay their cats, and who then allow their unspayed cats outside to mate, and who then do not keep them inside when they are pregnant.

Let me know what the Welfare League and the others say when you ask if you can foster.
