So i own a 2 yr old shorthair tuxedo cat and for past couple of weeks i've noticed some changes in him.

he seems to have thinned a lot. his average weight used to be 5kg but i checked yesterday and he's approximately 4kg now

he's also been very lazy, sleeps a looooot for almost the whole day. i thought it might be cuz the weather's changing to monsoon but i think it's because he has little to no energy. cuz he just flops down here n there n just doesn't move for a while.

also his food intake has gone down. normally he'd eat 2 bowls in a day but now he barely finishes one.

I've booked an appointment with the vet but in the meantime, any suggestions anyone? or anything I should look out for? i'm really reaallyy worried atm

You can try baby food, the meat only kind sometimes a sick kitty will eat that. When is your appointment sound like he needs to get there asap? You didn't say his age...could be anything from really bad fleas to Feline leukemia only your vet can tell. You also need to keep offering water, keep him hydrated. Boil some chicken make a broth no spice at all and offer this it will have a high water content he might even lick from a spoon.Do not give any over count meds unless instructed by your vet, some human meds can kill him.Good luck with your baby...Also in YouTube there are some good videos on getting a sick cat to eat and drink.

appointment's hopefully tomorrow or day after. there's a mess of situations where i live so i'm trying to get him there asap. i hope it's not something too serious !

he is 2 year old. ofcourse i didnt give him any meds.

actually he ran away for 3 days a while back and had a minor surgery to remove one of his nails. since then he never seemed to gain back his earlier healthiness. but he never got this thin as well which worried me. also he had been an active cat despite being indoors so seeing him this lethargic got me thinking something's wrong. also he seems too affectionate with me as well which makes me think he's trying to tell me he's not ok :(

i'll make the chicken broth and try to feed him. thank you soo much for your help !

I pray a speedy recovery for your fur baby, he might even eat some of the boiled chicken..shred it remove bones put some of the broth on it kind of like soup he may just lick it at first but its worth a shot. Is he using his litter box? His extra affection might just be him seeking comfort from you cuz he feels bad. Keep us posted.

it's gonna be tough though. i've tried feeding him chicken and meat for a long while but nothing seems to work.

he really has a liking for the crunchy dry kibble since he was a kitten. thankfully i've always kept his water intake in check.

he doesnt even eat canned food. i have to mix it with the kibble but i will try to make him eat the broth even if i have to force him (the things we do out of love)

yeah his litter was the first thing i checked and he seems to be peeing and pooping fine. which confused me..

thank you soo much ! and yes i'll post here of any new development ^^

Be careful forcing liquids small amount with a syringe a little at a time so as not to choke him. There are some great videos on youtube posted by vet clinics that can show you if you have never done it before. He is blessed to have you as her human mom.

ok so i was finally able to take him to the vet and thankfully it's nothing too serious.
they took his blood tests and turns out he has parasitic worm infestation. they administered two injections and gave him an oral medicine as well.. which he spit out lol so i came home and was able to give him..
i feel soo relieved cuz i was worried he might have that leukemia thing @TIco said so..
well we have to take him tomorrow and day after as well.. and then deworming in 15days so hoping he gets fit and fat soon ^_^

Glad your baby is getting better..and it was not too serious. Worms can be bad I worm mine once a yr for tape and all others just incase when they get their shots. Although they are inside only fleas get carried in on your pants or shoes or other animals and they can cause tape worms. So I never chance it. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
