First post here lol so hello everyone :) I want to know if anyone can share some experiences they have had where they thought there cat was pregnant but wasn't (false pregnancy) if false what was the longest it lasted. Also have you had a cat surprise pregnancy where she didn't look big and you couldn't feel babies. Background I am a breeder with a purebred munchkin that had a planned mating first week in July which would bring her to about 58 days minimum. She looked like she pinked up almost a month in but when I took her to vet for ultrasound d they saw nothing and got me back a week or so later for an X-ray which showed nothing. We assumed it was a false pregnancy. She was always on heat like clockwork every 2 weeks and she has not been back into heat. 2 days ago liquid can be expressed from her nipples. I feel no movement from anything in her tummy and she is only a little bit pudgy but I also switched her to the royal cannin kitten so that's to be expected lol. A few things might have happened when I calculate she would have only been 40 days max for the xray so it might have been a bit early. She is much more affectionate and her nipples are def bigger than our other fixed female cat. If anything would it be a singleton if so has anyone ever had a cat be not pregnant but really was if u get my drift lol.

How far along do you think yours is. Mine would be almost due. And she's even lactating.

Honestly I have no idea but probably pretty early in the pregnancy. I cant remember exactly when she was last in heat. I *think* it was at least sometime in august though. I do remember thinking it was a very short heat, which if i knew any better should have hinted it to me. I just started noticing she was getting really round and being very affectionate with increased appetite. My husband thinks she's just pretending to be pregnant so I'll bring her food and that I'm enabling her.:lol3:

Ok so I had another thread but it went unnoticed so I am rewording lol. I have a cat that had a planned breeding in the beginning of July. She pinked up and looks a bit rounder but when we brought her to vet at end of July they couldn't see anything on ultrasound. I know cats have false pregnancies but rarely and usually don't they go back into heat. She would be 60 days now and she looks a bit fluffy but no where near what other pregnant cats look like. I feel no movement in her belly but she is a small cat (munchkin) if she only had one would I still feel or see it. She is lactating now as well. If it is a false pregnancy when will she be back in heat.

I think you should take her back to the vet for another ultrasound.

It stresses her out to go for car rides even with feliaway so I would rather wait it out. I just wanted to know if others have had a cat give birth that they didn't know was pregnant or if they had a false pregnancy how long before they go back into heat.

Well, I have a cat who had a false pregnancy. We took her in and were told that she was likely to give birth within the week, but because she was a stray we never knew how far along she would have been in terms of days.
Her nipples were pinked up and enlarged, her stomach "dropped" and was hard, and she was very affectionate. However, her nipples never actually got waxy and she never nested, and obviously we couldn't feel any kittens. Over time she gradually looked...less pregnant. Her nipples receded and she grew fur back around them, and her stomach got smaller. We suspected it was a phantom pregnancy for almost a week before she finally went into heat and confirmed that she wasn't pregnant.

Wow that sounds like my girl she's showing all the signs only thing is she hasn't been in heat since beginning of July. Just would like her to go back into heat so we know plus I feel bad for her.

I had a ragdoll cat who went to be mated. She was confirmed pregnant by the vet with an ultrasound but sometime between then and the birth she reabsorbed the kittens. She still acted pregnant though and still had milk etc

About 2-3 weeks after the date that would have been her due date
