good afternoon!
and, to those of us in the US, enjoy your Labor Day weekend!

i've got grilling, and grilled foods, on my mind today.
i don't do any grilling, but i do like grilled foods.

so, for today's Question of the Day......

What do you like to grill? or for those of us who don't do grilling ourselves -- What is your favorite grilled food?

i'll start!

i like most grilled foods.
i think i'd have to say that grilled chicken is my favorite, followed closely by a grilled hamburger. in my area, there are chicken barbecues quite often. you can smell the wonderful aromas of those events quite a ways away from where the actual barbecuing is going on.

i also really like the idea of grilling fruit and veggies! i love grilled veggies, but have never tried grilled fruit. i'm pretty sure i'd love grilled fruit!

How about you?

I like a lot of foods grilled.  I prefer charcoal grilling.  I know that gas grilling is faster because you don't have to wait for the  fire to be ready but I prefer the taste of charcoal grilled food.  I think my favorite is the humble hamburger.

I prefer charcoal but any grilling will do. I don't as much as I'd like to; ours is down a flight of stairs from the kitchen and well, with knee problems I find it more a PITA to use.

There's a lot of things we use the grill for but a plain ole' American cheese hamburger cooked medium rare on the grill is heaven to me.

Veggies.  I love all the meats that go on the grill, but grilled veggies are the best.

I'm clearly picky

If I absolutely had to pick a favourite, it would probably be the corn.

I'm a vegetarian so I don't like grilled meat. My brother-n-law grilled some veggies for me once and they were so good. I especially like grilled corn.

My favourite would be steak and sweet potatoes (potato done in foil). I love it all though. I have a cast iron BBQ pan and love cooking veggies on it.

I like a lot of foods grilled too. There's no comparison. Charcoal is far superior to gas. I think it's worth the time it takes.

I like just about anything grilled as long as it doesn't get dried out.  Salmon, shrimp, steak, burgers, hot dogs (gotta have one or two in the summer!), chicken, veggies.

I can't believe it; but we did not use our grill once this summer!!  We had grilled things other places;  were just busy to fire up our own I guess.  We have a charcoal grill and it takes a little bit to get heated up.  I sort of wish we had a gas one too; just because it seems quicker.  My cousin's husband is such a grill fanatic he will fire the grill up to cook breakfast.  Bacon on the grill is really good!  So are his steaks and burgers.  He has skills with smoking too.

Everything LOL
Burgers and veggies have to be my favorite.

To the one who mentioned fruit...
Grilled peaches are good. With marscapone cheese, mixed with a little vanilla and almond flavor, on top. So good.

Pretty much everything. Any kind of meat or fish or seafood. Veggies, we do the standard potatoes and sweet potatoes, but we also grill asparagus, Brussels sprouts, tomato halves with Parmesan, whole onions with a square cut out of the onion and filled with baked beans. Fruit, pineapple is delicious as are peaches and thick apple slices. Pizza. Thick slices of vanilla cake, then served with a compote. You name it, we'll grill it.

LOL...I just thought about this,..my dad was the grill king of all time.  He could throw anything on a grill, and come out with a meal fit for a 5-star restaurant.  One of his friends sat him down one day and asked, "Andy, you've got to tell me...what is your secret for grilling?"  Dad replied, "It's all in timing the coals.  They have to be just right.  Here's what I do, I (and he gave a very explicit description of how to build up the charcoal, doing the wood chips, all of that, which I've forgotten in the past 50 years).  And now, this is the most important part, the timing.  I throw a match on the charcoal and crack open a bottle of scotch.  When I'm right, so are the coals!"

i've only ever had grilled corn on the cob once, and i'm sure it wasn't done very well.

ahhh, that sounds very nice!
i think i'd like to try some flavored butter with grilled corn, where some herbs or spices are blended into the butter.
