I am fostering a group of 5 8-week old kittens. One of them has an eye infection and the shelter gave me some eye drops and cream, along with Clavamox and Clindrops to fight the bacteria.

He has been on these medications for about two weeks. Yesterday, his eye was looking great, almost back to normal. The second eyelid was no longer swollen and his eye was bright.

This morning, I went to feed and check up on them, and I noticed that something was not right with his eye. It looked glued shut, so I took a wet rag and wiped his eye off. When he finally opened his eye, it looked completely red and swollen again. I cleaned it up, gave him his medication, and went to work. About six hours later, I went to go let them out of their room, and the little one's eye looked a little better, but now when I looked directly into his eye, it looked cloudy. Compared to his other eye, it looked dull and fuzzy. The clouding is an off white.

I'm really worried about this. I've ever dealt with this type of sickness and am wondering if this is normal? Is it so serious that I should contact the foster coordinator? Is it mucus and the eye is just healing? Is he going blind in one eye? How could this all happen within one night?!

I would get a picture, but he struggles, cries, and closes his eye when I try to look at it, so I didn't want to stress him out anymore.

Not unusual, their eyes can get really bad from these infections, especially if it's herpes.  If there is no ulcer, the vet can prescribe an eye drop tht has a steroid in it that will clear the clouding.  You should still report it to the foster coordinator.  Better too much communication about a kitten's condition than too little.  Good luck.  PS most vets are in tomorrow AM but then off for the weekend so be sure to call coordinator soon
