My little Bêlit was diagnosed with kidney disease, and my vet recommended I use Phos-bind. Can anyone help me make sense of the directions? My vet has been in heavy duty surgery mode all week (they've had many more emergencies come in than usual), so I haven't been able to get ahold of her to ask for clarifications.

The directions on the tub say: give 100 mg/kg daily with meals

Bêlit weighs 3 kg, so she should have 300 mg a day, yes? Is that all told as in I should give her 100mg per meal for a total of 300 at the end of the day, or is it per meal as in 300mg per meal for a total of 900mg a day?

I am not an expert on kidney disease, but I do know the most comprehensive site on it where you can probably learn everything you need is

http://www.felinecrf.org/

There are tabs along the bottom and if you click the one labeled "treatments" you might find something about Phos-bind or find someone who can answer your questions about dosage.
