Good morning!
And Happy Friday! With Labor Day on Monday, we have a 3-day weekend!

What do you call Home? Do you live in a single-family detached dwelling? A double dwelling? Do you live in an apartment, a condo, or a townhouse? How about a mobile home?

We have your standard 1980s-style bi-level. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. The house originally had three bedrooms, but we took the two smaller bedrooms and turned them into one larger master. We own about 1-1/3 acres of land with an in-ground pool in the back yard.

What about you?

i have an 1880's single-family detached dwelling. i'd call it a colonial, but it was originally a dwelling used for housing seasonal/migrant workers for the local apple orchards -- many houses in my area were. it's two floors of the original part of the house, and has additions -- the kitchen, two enclosed porches, and a downstairs bedroom. i have .23 acre of land.

I am living in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment.

There is a large, long rectangular open concept area which is a living room and dining room. Off to one side is one bedroom and bath.

The other side has the master bedroom and bath.

The kitchen in on the right side, off of the dining room area.

There are walk-in closets in each bedroom, a small center closet, and a huge utility store room. I also have normal size washer and dryer behind louvered doors.

I have a balcony off the living area.

Wall to wall carpeting (cheap, indoor outdoor) a laminate floor in great room, and cheap ceramic in baths and kitchen.

It is not far from the beach on one side, and a river on the other side; actually a peninsula. I like it because I can really smell the ocean... it is on a busy small highway, however I am on the back side where my apartment faces the private homes. Lots, actually too many, pine trees....called the point of pines area...

The apartment needs some renovations.. new baths.. and kitchen update.. but, what can you do? There are 75 apartments in this building...

I would prefer a house, but cannot afford it nor can I maintain the upkeep of the grounds...

We live in a semi-detached, narrow three-storey house that was built in the late 1950s. It has three bedrooms,1 1/2 baths, two balconies and no dining room or closets. The kitchen is at the front of the house, the living room in back. The third storey is used for storage. We rent out its "twin". The yard is a decent size by German standards, small by American.

I live in an apartment/condo in a house with 4 units, one flat on each floor. I'm on the first floor (American second floor), overlooking my neighbor's garden, and the roof of their extension is my extended balcony. The building was built around 1930.

I actually just moved literally 2 days ago. My previous apartment was pretty much the same set up, though I was one story higher and had a smaller balcony and the building was a few decades older.

I haven't enclosed the balcony yet, so the cats haven't gotten to enjoy their new, larger fresh air area. They'd probably be fine without it being enclosed (no one is a tiny overly-adventurous kitten anymore), but I think they can wait a few days, and it's not a lot of work.

The house has two smallish bedrooms, a giant Victorian-style double parlor, a semi-open kitchen, bathroom, and toilet. It also has lots of build-in storage; my previous house had none at all. Oh and it has the most beautiful floors. I am in love with my floors. I spent a while before we moved in refinishing the floors.

I am back in an apartment in a complex.  It's pretty bare bones, 1 bedroom and 740 sq ft.  It does have a washer/dryer hookup though, many one bedroom apartments in this area don't have that.  The complex usually has a communal laundry room but I didn't want to go back to that hassle.

I live in a house.  It's two stories and have 4 bedrooms upstairs.  The downstairs is fairly open w/a galley style kitchen.  The master bedroom is fairly large and has a nice master bath.  The other 3 bedrooms are 9' x 9'.  Our yard is large for the area. mostly because we have a two story house and most of the houses here are ranchers.

I live in a small house with two bedrooms and a bathroom. It was built in the 80's and I have a half acre. I lived here for 23 years and just paid off the mortage. I would like to move in a senior apartment as my house has steps and they are murder when you have bad knees..

I live in an older house. I have no idea on the age of it. Not historical, (I wish), or anything special, just an old house that my landlord turned into two apartments. One downstairs, & one upstairs. I am upstairs.

It's a little under 1,000.00 sq. ft.  Two bedroom, one bath.

I'm sure a lot of you have seen it through most of my "weekend projects pictures," where I have improved it myself.  It had that nasty, ugly old indoor/outdoor blue carpet, so other than painting the walls a few times over the years, my mom & I finally pulled that stuff up a couple of yrs ago, & painted the floor white. (because no way I could've refinished them). Then, last year, I pulled it up in my room. No luck on nice wood floors there. It was squares of plywood!!  So I got my parents nice light gray carpet & padding when they pulled it up from their room (in good condition)  to put in wood laminate floors.

Now, my other bedroom, (massage/ waxing office) is the only room in the house left w/ that ugly stuff, & as soon as It cools off, I plan on pulling it up & painting in there too.

Were currently living in a 3 bedroom house with 2 full baths and 2 half baths. Finished basement, fireplace, and A/C.

We ARE however either going to rent out the house or sell it, not sure yet. We are downsizing to a one bedroom apartment

so we have a lot of stuff to get rid of . Bruce will be closer to work and will save over $ 250.00 just on the gas alone. didn't

want to move but have no choice. I cannot do retail anymore and my eyes are shot from staring at a computer constantly for

over 26 years at the bank where I used to work. The house was built in about 1994 I believe. It's nicely landscaped with fully

matured tree's which we both did ourselves.

Home is our 1925 Craftsman style Four-Square - huge, deep porch.  3 small bedrooms (although to be honest, one technically can't be called a bedroom; no closet in it - we use it as an office).  1-1/2 baths. Closet space is lacking severely.  It is VERY vintage; high ceilings, fireplace (chimney is river rock outside), original chestnut wood trim everywhere (NOT painted white - I hate that), most original doors, radiators, exterior is stucco and has hand plaster walls in most rooms. We have a small yard, it's a corner lot to the back is teeny tiny but perfect for us and we had everything re-landscaped. It was necessary.  It's about 1600 s.f. People always think it's bigger because the exterior is really eye catching, but we have no family room/den so the living room is where we always are.   Has a large attic and decent basement but those are unfinished so not counted.

It's the worst financial mistake I ever made but we love loving here.  It's one of the few places I've lived that truly feels like "home" to me.

I live in an apartment.  Although the living/dining area is not generous, and the kitchen is more suited to a family of mice, my bedroom has space for a king bed, two night stands, a reading table and chair, 4 bookcases, and a chest of drawers.   Can't ask for better.  OH...and a walk in closet, and a decent sized storage closet in the hallway.

What is hand plaster? Never heard that term.

Hand made plaster walls; it's not used much anymore. Ours has a decorative pattern in the plaster; kind of a swirl.

The house itself is actually made from Terracotta fireproof blocks - it's not a wood frame house.  I believe it's more common on the west coast of the US, around where I live you don't run across many at all.  Made for some difficult and challenging construction days!

We live in a newer home; built in 2008.  It's 3 bedrooms and 2 baths.  I love my kitchen!  It's nothing designer or grand (no granite, tile or high end appliances) but it's spacious enough for 3 people to work on holiday meals comfortably.  The dining/office/school area of my house is part of the kitchen; divided by a wide peninsula and the laundry room.  It overlooks the backyard and has a great view!  I usually describe our house as not too big but not too small either.  It felt enormous when we bought it. But adding 2 kids and homeschooling makes me wish for a basement, powder room (both bathrooms are at the other side of the house; which seems far when your potty training kids
) and a separate casual living room type space away from the main living room and the tv.  We are slowly making changes; like adding moldings and hopefully changing flooring in the next year or so.

The backyard was a big selling feature.  We have 1/2 an acre.  The builder left the mature trees and privet hedge in place.  Unfortunately we have had to remove most of them because they were dying and a danger to the house.  I agonized over removing one last summer.  But we are also slowly adding more trees and gardens.  The front needs the most work.  We hope to add a pool next year; but we still need to know our yard is suitable and things like that.  It will probably be above ground (I'd take an in ground one if we come into some money or with a contest or something
).  The floors might wait so we can get a pool.  I love to be in the water!

We live in a 3 bedroom 1 1/2 bath townhouse. We have a smaller kitchen, pantry/boiler room, Laundry room, 1/2 bath.  living room and dining area downstairs. Upstairs is three rooms with a bathroom. We are in city limit's zip code wise but that is about it. I would say were on the outskirts of town. The area we live in to have this much space and washer dryer hook up we are stealing it. It is in a good school district and you don't have to worry about getting shot. I am about to sign my third lease for the place and we have decided to stay here until we can buy.

Just moved to Oklahoma we are buying our first home it's a single family detached dwelling. It's brick and siding on the outside. 3 bedroom 2 bathroom with a fireplace ( always have dreamed of owning a home with a fireplace). The house is 2000 sq ft with a decent back yard not sure on the lot size but it has flower beds and mature trees. We have new wood flooring in the garage just have to have it installed. My cats love the open floor plan and the sun room they are settling in nicely.

Home is a 1 bedroom 765 sq. ft condo. It's a pretty typical layout: enter the front door and open galley kitchen is on the left and the main open space straight ahead which is the dining / living area. A hallway on the right leads to the bathroom, hall closet, laundry closet, and bedroom with a roomy walk in closet.

I grew up in one of those rooms. It had no closet and oddly two doors, one to the hallway and one to the entryway just inside the front door. I had a tall metal cabinet with clothing rod inside that served as a "closet". The purpose of the room was probably an office / study / library. I know my parents used it as a nursery for us. The original 1920's house plans shows a closet in the room but the plans probably changed as the house was built and the closet was eliminated.

Ours has a door to the walk-up attic. It also has a window which was covered up at some point by prior owners.  I assume, for extra wall space.  When we moved in we had to take those walls down to the studs because the walls were covered in so many layers of old wall paper that it just made sense to start it from scratch, and add some much needed insulating into the wall.  We considered re-opening it but a) cost for yet another window plus b) cost of construction to do so and c) yep, that small amount of extra wall space was much needed
