So after my last kitten died I rescued some kittens I have a female who is about 12 weeks old maybe 10 weeks not 100% today she started acting real love me love me type of behavior is it too early for her to start going into heat? is it just her behavior? is it too soon to get her fixed? anybody have any advice on this? Oh on a side note I just left the vet today she didn't say anything about it I figured they would have said something but just wanted to double-check I didn't even think to bring it up to the vet

I'm not too sure but our vets told us to wait about 6 months before we spay our kittens. We are new cat/kitten owners so just taking the advice of the vet. The boy they said can be neutered very soon, we are going to get the mother (Sabin) and the boy (Panda) spayed and neutered a few weeks after their final shots next week.

I work at a volunteer shelter and we spay neuter them before they are adopted. They have to be over 2 pounds and have their first set of shots. Which is typically about 2months old. We have had kittens that have gone into heat as early as 6months old and moms that come in while they are still kittens themselves, so it is better to have it done before they go into heat. Hope this helps.

Everyone will tell you something different, but I spay/neuter as early as 2 months. I've always been told that the younger the kitten the easier it will handle the situation. But, again, opinions differ. A female cat can become pregnant at 4 months of age.

I've never heard of a 12-week-old going into heat. . .earliest I've heard of is 14 weeks. But she may be getting some hormones, no way to know really. And if you're not 100% sure on her age, she might be older than you think.

It all depends on if you can handle a cat in heat. If she goes outside, or you just don't want to deal with it, spay her as soon as your vet will do it. If you want to wait, be prepared for some yowling ;). No reason not to spay her now, best to get it over with. I don't like to do it to 8-week-old babies if not completely necessary---they're just so small!---but 12 weeks is fine.

They will all be getting fixed on the 1sy . Since I am having my own "getting fixed" surgery I figured might as well get them done asap :)

I waited until mine was six months old. The breeder of my second cat had her neutered at 10 weeks. Some vets won't do the younger ones because they believe their lungs are less likely to tolerate the anaesthetic.

I always got mine spayed at 6 months, figuring that doing surgery on small kittens would be more dangerous and traumatic. However most recent litter of kittens I picked up I got spayed/neutered at 3 months because I wanted them fixed before they went to their new homes (which... turned out to be with me, haha).

I was shocked at how well the kittens handled it at 3 months -- unlike the older cats, they were completely unperturbed and acted like they didn't have surgery at all! I'm now more of a fan of doing the surgery around 3 months instead, as long as the vet is okay and confident about doing the surgery at that age. Kittens really do bounce back faster than adults!
