Thank you.

The antibiotics is called synulox. It's a powder to add water to and then give two drops twice a day.

He's acting normally. Feeding, nuzzling and doing the funny commando crawl thing new kittens do.

Do you have any tips on the easiest way
To get the kitten to open its mouth? My daughter and I managed together but it was a bit hap-hazard.

Scruff the kitten gently to disable him, and pull the bottom of the mouth down with your other hand, and give the drop of medicine quickly.

Just a quick update. So went back to vets today and the kitten is doing great. Over the last few days it stabbed. The scab has gone now and the vet was really pleased. Have to carry on with the antibiotics till Sunday. So all good here. Thanks for the support.

It's great to hear that the kitten is doing well and will be fine. That was a bit scary! Thanks for the update! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Hi all. Just a quick update. Kittens now two weeks old. Apart from the umbilical infection all has been good. Their eyes opened at 6 days. The first kitten who is 24 hrs older is moving around alot faster than her brother although he holds his head up really well and seems more interested in people! Just want to check their weights are okay.
No.1 tortoise shell born 87g now 288g
No.2 black/white born 91g now 294g.

Weights are fantastic! They both weigh a little over 10 ounces at 2 weeks, and the goal is 8 ounces at 2 weeks, so they are good and healthy. The next goal is one pound at 4 weeks. Nice job! They are precious! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Quick question. My son is coming down with a cold. Is it safe for him to handle the kittens? Can we pass anything on to them???

Colds are caused by the herpes virus, which is highly contagious. He should not handle the kittens right now!

I was under the impression that they were different strains of herpes.  Feline herpes is not contagious to humans and vice versa.  Is that incorrect?

It is incorrect. Researchers have discovered some of the same strains in both cats and humans.

It's best to exercise caution!

Another question about kitten development. The first kitten is up on all four legs doing a funny wobbly walk. The second one doesn't really get up on his back legs. He moves about no problem but his feet are still out sideways like the first kittens were before she was totally upright. Is this anything to be concerned about? He is one day younger and has been on antibiotics and weighs more. Is he a slow developer or is she just quick. I've not been around kittens younger than 8 weeks before now.

Ok thanks. I won't worry about it too much then. What age should he be up on all four legs? He's 17 days old now.
