Awww don't cry this is something good happening. The babies made it another 24 and mom is so accepting of being kept confined. One cat will be relieved of the curse of one litter after another and two little ones will never know hardship. We have feelers out for potential homes for Tera and one of the babies. like minded souls that take care of their pets.
It's happy tears, I promise [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Mook is giving Tera a good looking at through the door. I pull Tera up by the house at night on my big garden cart. Husband calls it my wagon train. She faces in the screen door so I can talk to her. I pull the blanket and plastic down before bed.  Two dominate torties facing off. Yikes.

This helped me cope tonight. I feel so bad crating Tera and her kittens even though I know it's for the best. I remind myself that the nest I provided is clean and warm and safe from predators. She has a full belly and indoor plumbing. Even outside the current arrangement provides warmth and cover unlike the old chicken pen where there was no insulation.

Tera ate 6 cans of FF today and took a horrible stinky dump just now. I am not cleaning a litter box in the middle of the night. I noticed it when I removed the empty food bowl. Those little kittens are getting so cute. Warm full bellies and I know they are a bit bigger. I might look for a cheap scale tomorrow.  Anyone remember me saying I can't be a foster mother because I could never give one away....Yeah I'm plotting like Lucy Ricardo to find a way to keep the all.

Please don't feel bad about keeping them crated. It really is the safest thing for them. I think mother and kittens will feel much lore secure in a confined space too. The colony I TNR'd used to have their kittens either in the crawlspace under my neighbor's shed or in the roof of an abandoned house that they were able to squeeze into. They choose these confined areas as it's much easier to keep the kittens warm and safe.

I used to keep the kittens I managed to trap in a bathroom, until I splashed out on a fancy cage for them. Made life so much easier.

Glad to hear the family are doing well. Six cans! Go Tera.

Thank you. This was unplanned. I had no idea she was this close. We've managed to get things set up pretty well on the fly. I put my hand in the crate and it's quite cozy and she keeps those babies against her. She's a great mother.

Yesterday she inhaled 8 cans of FF. I have to go back to the store.

The place she chose was clever but really filthy. Although I had to wonder if part of it was the scent might cover her babies. She was obviously loved once but they didn't love her enough to spay her.

Beginning of day 4. Happy Tera got breakfast and there are two little morsels attached to her having breakfast. They are starting to look kissable.

Oh my goodness, I hadn't been on TCS since yesterday morning and am now logging on to catch up on this story.  This made my weekend.

I too broke into tears when reading how this family is finding peace and comfort at your hands, this news is truly inspirational and heartwarming.

I would be plotting too, I don't think I'd ever be able to let them go.

Tera reminds me of my gal Chestnut, with the black base then gold markings on her head and back.  I love her eyes.  She looks so healthy and those little ones, oh my, I'd be kissing them all day long. LOL

I hope you get to keep them ALL! LOL

Look forward to updates.  Congratulations, your efforts are truly making a difference.

This is fantastic.

Best always...

Pictures later. Being a foster mom is hard. I realized I had to get up every 3 hours last night to feed Tera and check the babies. I was so tickled . This morning I moved Tera to the large pen and she looked back at her babies and when she seen I was holding them went over to eat.  Pictures later. Hubs is downloading on his Xbox-One right now . country internet.

So 2 old hay tubs to elevate and being black they may provide several hours of thermal heat at night. I used a weed whacker on a 15 inch baby rattler last week. don't want the cage on the ground. Extra large dog crate. floor is 48x30 and it's pretty tall. On sale at Tractor Supply. Two rolls of pet safe screen held on with zip ties. When this is done I should still have enough good screen to finish my windows. They were already in the shed. The folding window screen was there too. Only used it for a short time. It fits in the front and seals any roll through possibility for the babies. Two 6 foot lengths of foam pipe insulation fit on the edge of the bottom tray and sealed those gaps , make shift baby bumper. The roll of foil covered bubble wrap bought for another project but now repurposed to make reflective/insulated cover/waterproof cover for cage. Extra bungee to add security to the door. And I have an old windshield screen that I can move with the sun if things get too hot.

May the Goddess of the Earth bless gorilla tape. Ramen.

Amazing!
Tera and her babes have a lovely shelter thanks to your hard work. It's obvious that Tera truly trusts you with her two precious ones...that's a trust that is not easily given. Thank you for keeping us posted on how Tera and the babies are doing. I think of them often [emoji]10084[/emoji]️

I held the babies so they get used to humans. Came in and Mook started sniffing my hand. Very intense. And then...

I am assuming that you will be willingly feeding my addiction to kitten tails?

She done the groundhog sniffing my hand , then I got a head bonk and she started grooming my hand. Her and Tera exchange death ray eye beams but the babies seem to be something else.

I can see Tera using the litter box right now. She has her babies in the nest box now with a new soft fleece blanket. She seems so happy with everything.

The one I am sure is a little girl is Dina and the one in question I have negotiated and it will accept Swan as it's name. So much better than Swami. I had no idea what to do with that.
