Crud going around here, as well.  I've dodged it so far, since I live like a hermit even now...I get out, but don't get to crowded places, etc.

The kitlets have grown like weeds.  I'm still thinking you must be putting Miracle-Gro in their water!

I had to look twice today as they were both in the kitchen and it looked like two Mooks in silhouette. I just finished cleaning the water fountain. I am so glad I choose the stainless. I can remove the little soft coupling for the water flow and put the tank and top into boiling water to sterilize it and then polish it up. I cleaned the little motor out and put the other plastic pieces in dilute bleach water. Since we use bottled water for drinking here it stays clean for two weeks. All the cats are using it now.

The babies now have access to the rest of the house. I have said when the barriers no longer work you're fighting a losing battle. I have also noticed both my little GIRLS are now very proficient in grooming.

So now Mercy needs to go in early January for her 3 year shots and then we need to schedule the spays. I'm torn about doing them a month apart or simply getting them both done at the same time.

That's a bit of a quandary.   I can see pros and cons either way!

I MUST see about getting Hekitty a fountain!  Maybe the running water would keep her out of the toilet!  I spend more time cleaning it than any other task.

I vote doing them at the same time. That way everyone has a similar energy level and smells weird from the vet at once.

They really are getting so big!

They are getting big. And I'm sort of on board with doing them both at the same time. Since I can be home with them it just makes more sense.

Ours isn't that loud at all; you can't even hear it once you leave the room, and it has a very serene and tranquil sound. I would miss it if we didn't have it.

Paul and Chula's fountain was completely silent for the first six months we had it.  For some reason, now when the water falls, it makes a noise when it hits the plastic slide into the reservoir.  It's pretty loud, too, though not annoying.  I agree with @Tarasgirl06  - the falling water does have a serene, tranquil sound.

Mine has a small adjustment on the motor for the water pressure. I have it on a heavy rubberized mat and that got rid of any vibration. I like that the water is constantly filtered.

It does me, too.  And if I close the lid, she hooks her paw under the edge of the vanity door, opens and releases it with a "thunk-thunk-thunk" until I come in and lift the lid for her.  AND she has THREE ceramic water dishes in various areas of the house that I wash and fill daily.

Ours has that adjustment, too.  It really is a wonderful addition to their lives!
Yes it is. All of the cats love drinking out of a dripping faucet. This is more practical. Although they ignored it totally for the first 2 weeks. It was the babies that led them to the water. They took to it instantly. As soon as the babies are spayed and can be left out unsupervised at night and when we go away we're planning on fitting a large cat tree where the cage sits. We need more vertical spaces. I'm thinking something that offers some human storage places and cat space. The cat balcony, shelves between the kitchen and living room need to come down I want a wall there I hate the open concept thing. We can add some of the more artsy cat shelves there during construction. We didn't plan on doubling our in house cat population. There have been minor conflicts over favorite spots already.

I thought I was the only person on the planet who wasn't ga-ga over "open concept."  The LAST thing I want is guests to see me having a hissy-fit and swearing in the kitchen!  Let them think it was effortless!  I assure you, it was not!

I've seen a cat tree somewhere that had storage of some sort...If I can remember where I saw it, I'll send you the link, but that's a big if.  Brain-dead R Us.

We had the same issue after we got Tesla (which wasn't planned lol). Our little petco tree wasn't enough and he and kiwi were competing for the top spot all the time.

This is the tree that I bought, Its called the Mount Hood. It fits a standard 8ft ceiling but extends to 9 ft.

I like watching the home shows and to be honest I often have a hissy when they open concept some of them.  I've heard more than one person say they're sick of living on top of each other. I've lived in many old houses and love the charm that only age can put on a home.

*Butting in unasked*  Yeah!!! Our house is 1937 vintage, Art Deco.  It has a lot of beautiful character features including archways, crown molding, etc. and what I love best about it is it is NOT open plan.  It has DOORS and lots of ROOMS and when I need to bring a new cat in, (s)he has his/her OWN room.  When I need to go out, I can close doors so that cats have the run of the house but cannot get out.  When guests or contractors come, ditto.  Open plan is  lot cheaper to build, but it will never replace good strong well-built homes like this one, 79 years and going strong in L.A. Metro!
