Possibly stupid question.

Can I just feed my cats whatever I'm making for dinner? Like with meatloaf I'm using ground turkey, egg, breadcrumbs and cheese. Could i just give them an uncooked portion of that? I know I'd need to like add liver for example but i could give that to them on pasta night. (Obviously not feeding them the pasta)
Thanks!

As a small treat, yes, definitely! But if it comes to more than 10% of their daily diet, no, you need to make sure their diet is more balanced than what random table food can provide.

There are some easy supplements you can add to make it balanced. I believe there's a list in the resources thread, let me look around. . .

Human food is not nutritionally complete but if you want to give him a treat of a little taste that is fine.  BE SURE THERE is no onions, garlic or even onion powder or garlic powder in the mixture!  These are deadly to cats.  You need more than liver for a cat's meal to be complete.  A great recipe for home made cat food is on Catinfo.org.  Look under the recipe's tab.

No. If you want to make your cats food, great! there are tons of threads on here about it. But no, don't give them any food you make. Cats can't have things like onion and garlic, they are highly toxic.

Also, I would not give them raw GROUND meat, unless you're grinding it yourself. Supermarket ground meat is full of bacteria that cooking destroys. With raw, the equipment may not be properly cleaned, and there's more surface area in the meat for bacteria to grow. Bits of chicken breast and other whole meat are fine as a treat.

My cat loves ground beef raw or cooked LOL. That is one of her favorites.

I do ground my own rabbit some times. The equipment for meat must be thoroughly cleaned and meet by regulations, I don't think it's any more dirty than pre packaged meats? All raw meat is germy. Especially chicken, pork, and tilapia.
