My momma cat moved her 4 day old babies underneath our tub and in a hole where the pipes are. They are completely inaccessible to me. Will she tend to them and bring them back out? I played crying kitten sounds and she was really alert. She finally went back there but didnt do anything and came right back out. I'm so worried for them :( Sarthur2 Sarthur2

Why are they unsafe there? Is it because the pipes will get hot when you run water? Could you try running water (not hot) for awhile and see if she doesn't ;like the noise and brings them back out?

I would be nervous as well cleanliness? dampness, darkness and if there is an emergency

difficult to attend to them, nicer if you can monitor their growth, observe and keep them nice

and tame. Everything is all new right now, it's nice when the mom cat trusts you allows you to share co parent/help with the babies.

Oh, boy, this is not good. I wonder how far into the wall they can go. I would refrain from using the hot water at all in that bathroom for now. They can easily get burned.

Four-day-old babies are unable to come out on their own, and it's highly unlikely that mama is planning to bring them out anytime soon. She obviously feels her kittens are safe in this hole, whether they are in the long run or not.

Honestly, you may need to call a carpenter or plumber to get to them. Otherwise, you will have to wait until they are old enough to come out, or for mama to bring them out. I recommend that you call someone for help.

My husband said there are no pipes so they won't get burnt. It's a small spot so they cannot go in the wall at all. She's in there all the time caring for them now so im assuming all is well. We will be gone all day so she has the house to herself and im hoping she brings them out.

My husband wins a hero award. We haven't put trim up yet so he was able to cut a hole in the wall and get the kitties out! They are doing fine. Momma rushed one back in that we had to take out again but the entrance is blocked up now. I feel terrible taking away her spot but its not safe.

Aww, thank goodness though! Hurray for hero husbands! [emoji]128077[/emoji]

Have you been able to fix mama up with another private place? I put my cat and her kittens in a bedroom closet with the door cracked for mama, and they were happy as clams in there for a few weeks.

Cats really want dark and privacy! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Great news! Hurrah for your husband. This is obviously a mommacat who feels that her kittens are unsafe and need a very quiet spot. Before she goes somewhere even worse you need to help her find a 'safe' place.

One of my cats adores the crawl space behind the bath tub. She is skittish & would spend all day in there if she could.

As others have said, your cat needs a safe place ASAP before she hides them someplace you can't find.
