My Momma cat had 5 kittens. One died a week or such after birth of what appeared to be Anemia. ( Pale gums, Lethargy) Then two days ago, which was about a months and a half after the first one passed away, another died of what seemed to be anemia. I have talked to a vet and looked online. I am terrified that they may have Feline Leukemia. I am trying to find a home for them all because me and my wife aren't really mature enough to take care of them. We have had no luck, so I am doing what I can. I am on a VERY fixed income. Fleas are pretty bad, I am trying to rid them as well, advice on that as well please. As I said, we are on a very fixed income. PLEASE HELP.

If the fleas are that bad, they could actually be killing the kittens.  Two inexpensive remedies for fleas...for the kittens, a good bath in luke-warm water and BLUE Dawn dish soap,  NO OTHER KIND.  BLUE Dawn.  Then go over them with a flea comb.  Dawn, about $3, flea comb, maybe the same at a Wal-Mart.  For your house, a large box of 20 Mule Team Borax.  Sprinkle it everywhere on fabrics, allow to sit for a couple of hours, then vacuum.  Make a solution and mop hard floors.  Wash linens and clothing with it added to each load.  Cost...Well, a box runs around $2, and you might need 2 boxes.  You need to get on this right away.  I mean, RIGHT away.

I found three tiny 6-8 week old kittens on the side of the road last fall and used the blue Dawn dish soap on them and it worked very well.  Holding them by the napes of their necks, keeping their heads out of the water stream, I got them wet and then slathered them completely in the dish soap.  I let it sit on them for a couple/few minutes and then carefully rinsed them.  You could see fleas in the bottom of the sink.  I actually had to wash them a couple more times over the course of the next few days as the fleas would get on their eye lashes to stay out of the soap,  preventing me from getting them all at once.  Flea combs are super cheap at walmart, just make sure you get one with teeth very close together.  If they have fleas, they will also have worms, which could be contributing to their poor health.  You will need to read the package to see at what age it is safe to give to kittens though.

How's things going??

We would be grateful for an update :)

Also, look at their gums for color. Top gums are easiest.

Choose between pink, pale pink, white with a slight pink color, or pure white, no pink at all.
