OK...Here it is...um...wait...my mind just went blank...OH YEAH!

What is your favorite season of the year, and why?

We're coming up on mine.  Fall.  Autumn.  That wonderful time of year when the heat slowly lessens, leaving us with crisp air and the sky gone an insane blue that makes you dizzy to look at.  In the afternoons, the light goes all honey-colored, and smells just as sweet.  Longer nights, leaves putting on their annual fashion show.  I get energized in the fall (and the winter, too!)  I'm like a kitten again, all skittery and flibberty-gibbety and silly and wild.  I even love the windy days, when the leaves kick up and go swirling down the drive in a mad tarantella.

I dress the apartment for fall, with burnt orange and russet and brown and gold.  Pumpkins and other gourds and Indian corn.  Yeah...fall.  There's nothing quite like it!

I like the fall because of the cool weather and it gets dark earlier. The drawback is raking the 30 bags of leaves every year. I can't do it myself anymore so I have to pay someone else a fortune to do it.

I'm with you both. Pleasantly warm days and dark evenings to spend on the sofa cuddling with the cats. Bliss. Shame about the leaves though

Summer. And the fact summer is waning is very depressing for me. I love the long, hot days, just perfect for working outside, for swimming in the pool, for lounging around by the pool. We grill more during the summer and our meals are completely different than they are during the colder months. Windows are open and the air is warmer. Yeah, it's humid and muggy, but I'll take that over ice and snow any day.

I'm already seeing changes around here. It stays darker longer in the morning and it's starting to get darker earlier in the evening. I hate the longer nights.

I'm in Florida so we don't have real seasons here. We have summer and summer 2.0 or lite summer. Our "real" summers take up the most of the year. We don't have spring or fall. Winters are nice because we finally get to shut the AC off for a while and we get a couple of weeks of what most people think of as "fall" weather where we would have to wear a light jacket in the mornings and at night. Summers are brutal so I guess I'd pick winter.

If I were up north or anywhere that had a real winter, I'd say summer. I detest the cold. I never liked fall up north because it meant one thing. Winter was on the way.

Here in the Midwest, fall is the most beautiful time of the year. The brilliant oranges, yellows, and reds of the leaves, the lush green of the grass, and the intense blue of the sky. Temps are crisp enough to wear a sweater, and the golden sunlight colors everything in fall hues.

But in the South, where I grew up, spring was the most beautiful season with azaleas, camellias, and daffodils blooming and the grass turning green after being brown all winter. Dogwoods bloomed white everywhere. I miss spring in the South. Here it just rains forever.

Spring because it's such a relief to see the bad winter weather go away and things turn green again and flower. The birds come back.  The air feels fresh and pleasant.

I love fall activities though.  Apple picking, pumpkin picking (even though we don't carve them), cider, baking, decorating in fall colors and of course looking at the leaves.  I just wish the leaves would stay in color longer before they fall and we are left with bare brown till spring rolls around again.

@MoochNNoodles  - You don't say where you are located, but you would love fall in the Midwest. The colors of the leaves stay for three weeks at least. They start turning in early October, and I could swear there are still leaves on the trees at Halloween. It's glorious.

I like all the seasons but winter does have it's charm.  It helps that I refuse to drive while it's snowing so I can sit inside and watch the flakes fall.  I usually live in an urban area and can walk to the grocery store if I need something so long as it isn't bread, milk or toilet paper!  I love the smell in the air before a snowstorm.  It is relatively warm since it won't snow it it is below freezing.  It's a crisp, fresh scent.  I love walking on the snow and hearing the crunch of dry snow under my boots.  You can't beat the view of tree branches and the yard before the day starts covered in a blanket of white with the occasional wildlife foot prints.  I even enjoy seeing my breath on the cold cold days of winter.  And don't forget all those fun sports, skiing, sledding, making snowmen, that can only be done with snow.

Spring and Fall.

I like spring because it is that fresh freedom from winter - it's cool, not yet too hot and no longer too cold. Lot's of flowers are blossoming and everything is lush and green. Can throw off all the heavy winter clothing. It's not entirely buggy yet. Baby animals are born. The only drawback is that my birthday is in the spring, and nowadays I still find my Bday hard to deal with (Working on it though!) and it's the end of dance season.

I like fall because again, I like cooler weather, the same middle ground. I like the colours in nature, the smells, the cozyness, the specially flavoured meals and drinks. Baking. Halloween and special fall events. Bugs die off. Great hiking and horsey season. Only drawbacks is the darker mornings/evenings and of course knowing what is just looming around the corner!

I don't mind winter so much, it can look beautiful and also be cozy, but I hate dealing with the driving aspect of it if the weather is bad. And it gets tiresome lugging around a kajjilion amounts of clothing and accessories. Summer has its charm, I do enjoy summery activities like swimming at a lake and being able to wear cute summer dresses. Just the heavy heat with a piercing sun can be bothersome and uncomfortable. Plus I notice (and I have been guilty of it too) people put a lot of pressure on themselves to have a great summer.

Altogether, despite favourites and misgivings, I feel fortunate living in a place where seasons change! Would get tired if it was constantly the same all year round. Every season has something special to offer and it is fun that way.

It does have its charms, and is my second favorite...all slow and sleepy and full of secrets...

Summer is my favorite. Great summers here in New England especially compared to where I grew up in England.

Fall is my favorite.  I actually like winter if it isn't too extreme.  As long as it isn't the kind of frigid cold that I have to stay inside and there isn't so much snow and ice that it is hard to get anywhere.  Summer is actually my  least favorite season because I don't tolerate heat and humidity very well.  When we have the kind of heat and humidity like we had this summer I just stay  inside.

I absolutely love Autumn, as A kid you could splash in puddles and run through leaves, it's not so cold you want to stay indoors. When you go out in the wind you can see your breath whisked away and pretend to be popeye.

July & August here in CT was the hottest ever. I walk for 2 hours every day & what bothered me the most when it was over 90 degrees was the ground ozone levels. Combined with the heat & humidity it made for a very toxic stew that was difficult to walk in. I would have to keep stopping because I could hardly breathe especially uphill. And I am a very healthy person!

i'd have to say my favorite season is late fall/early winter these days. i don't tolerate the hot weather or the frigid cold weather well. i focus on indoors chores to a greater extent during that time of year, and it's relatively quiet in my little slice of the world.

I have to agree.  Our Summers are becoming more and more hot and humid and I relish it when Autumn arrives and I know we're in for some coolness.  We don't have to worry about frigid cold weather so all of Winter is just fine by me.

It's only just Spring here now and I can already feel the heat setting in.
