Hello there. I had to put my cat in a cattery for a few days while I was out of town and when I came back she seemed to have bit of a cold with some clear fluid in her lungs. That in itself isn't unusual since she is a flu carrier however the next day she suddenly stood up and began spasmodically coughing and wheezing very loudly for about twenty seconds while bringing up and swallowing fluid. It sounded like a combination of a child's croup cough and wheezing. She did the same thing yesterday and today I can still hear fluid in her lungs. When looking online for audio/videos, the coughing/wheezing precisely matched a video showing a cat having an asthma attack.
I'm not sure what to do now. It is possible that her condition is being exacerbated by a slight cold, she has had minor coughing fits in the past but nothing like this. Should I wait a week or two to see how things go once her cold passes or should I take her to a vet now?
Thanks folks.
