Embarrassing Kneading Behavior Question :-/

Hi all.

Okay, so this is awkward. My boy Enzo (9 years old, neutered) has this weird nightly (sometimes during the day, mostly at night) ritual. He will come up on the couch while I am laying down and walk onto my stomach and begin kneading and purring deeply and loudly. He gets the glazed over look in his eyes. So far, I have no problems and I enjoy that he wants to be close to me.

However, during this kneading session, he will usually also "hump" the air. This in and of itself is embarrassing, but it gets worse. When he's finished kneading, he will either go to the end of the recliner or to the floor and immediately begin licking his man parts. I am mortified!!

What could be the cause of this behavior? He is fixed and has been ever since he was a kitten. There are no other pets in the house and he doesn't do this behavior to my husband. He will knead his occasionally but never the air hump or licking afterwards.

Help!!

I've read a lot of cats do this. My boy wurzel used to do this all the time. He was also desexed. It was funny because he would never do this in front of my husband. And when he caught him in the act, he would look guilty and run off.

I think he's just telling you he loves you. I have no idea why he gets aroused, but evidently he does.

Haha oh I am SO glad I'm not the only one!! He'll do it in front of my husband but it's more frequent when we're alone. It's so weird!

Part of me gets so happy when he comes to spend time with me, but it's the arousal part that grosses me out a little! I want him to love me like a mom :-)
