Sorry, just checking. It's an occupational hazard (I'm a teacher).

She told me about a young girl who was killed in a car wreck - her injuries were this: her neck was broken, where her hands were on the wheel - the bones of her wrists had gone through the bottoms of her hands, her legs were mooshed up. Such horrific injuries.

Opinions?
How sad Whatever happened to the driver? I think if people are going to race or such, they should take a trip down to the morgue or wath videos of similar nature to show what can happen.

Tigger - I am sorry I wasn't clear. This young girl that died was the driver. Only 23 years old.

Also, I asked my sister about the 7 year old. She is going to be okay. Thank god for small mercies.

I teach English as a foreign language at a junior college. Specifically, German to English translation (economic and political topics) and business correspondence. Most of the kids end up working as foreign-language secretaries, though some former students are now working as journalists/newscasters. Oddly enough, quite a few have ended up writing German subtitles for DVDs - that seems to be a real "growth field". The classes have to learn translation in both directions: German to English with me, and English to German with a native German speaker whose English is fluent. They also have English dictations, conversation, business and social studies classes with native speakers of English (British/Canadian/Australian natives). English is their first foreign language, but it has to be combined with a second foreign language, primarily French or Spanish. There are quite a few official languages here in the European Union, but English is definitely the "lingua franca". Until about 2 years ago, most German pupils started learning English at about age 10, but now the 7-year-olds are required to have some English in school.
