hi  , so this little guy was dumped by his mother 2 days ago ( i have no idea why ; she moved her kitties and left him );  any way,  i took him and i've been giving him (normal) milk*  6 times  a day about 80 ml each time (about every 4 hrs / it depends on when he wakes up ) , i nurse him with a syringe !

his eyes were not clean (closed)  so i clean them about twice a day with salted serum *

by the way he's too weeks old !!

So the qs is am i doing it right !! what do i need to know or do to make it work since he's too little ! i've never had experience with kitties in such age !

i need advice please !

thank you

Thank you for rescuing this little one!

You should stop using cow milk immediately. Cats can't digest lactose and it can cause stomach upset. Instead, you can use goat milk or kitten milk replacer. Powdered by kmr is quite reliable.

Are you stimulating the kitten to pee and poop before and after each feeding?

Does it have a heat source in its nest?

Kitten should be fed every two hours around the clock for now. How much are you giving at each feeding?

Can you weigh the kitten each day?

Be careful with his eyes as they are not open yet don't try to force them open. I don't think I would clean his eyes with anything salty.

The kitten looks to me like it is 4 weeks old. I don't think it's possible that you are feeding 80ml per feeding. Do you mean per day? That's a lot of milk....

Can you get goat milk or kitten milk replacer? It's so important that this little one gets the appropriate nutrients. Cow milk could make things worse.

Does he have teeth? If so, you can begin weaning.

Does it pee and poop on its own?

If you ever have a kitten younger than three weeks, they need you to help them pee and poop. You have to run their genitals with a warm cotton ball or cloth before and after each feeding. They can't pee or poop without help. A very young kitten also must have a heat source for the first three weeks, though it sounds like this one is old enough to go without.

He will need an antibiotic for the eye.

Ok, so he really needs 8ml every two hours. You can wake him up if he's sleeping. He's not getting enough to eat now.

He also needs a heating source. A sock filled with raw rice and microwaved for 5 minutes works well.

Every time you feed him you need to stimulate him until he pees and poops. He doesn't have to poop every time. You make a cloth or cotton ball damp with warm water and rub his belly and genitals. You can try before and after feeding. This is VERY important.

Baby milk is not ideal. Where are you located? Kmr is available at most pet stores and at Walmart.

and about the milk can i just double the amount instead of waking him up ! cuz when he wakes up he starts meowing unless i hold him (he purrs ) but the thing is he's very active he moves a lot (mostly searching for nipples -even after being fed) so it's hard putting him to sleep that's why i don't wake him up !

and besides let's be honest i can't feed him every 2hrs sometimes i'm not available without forgetting the night time

A two week old kitten has a very small tummy. He can eat more than 8ml at a time if he's still hungry, but he does need to eat every 2-3 hours. This does mean even through the night for now.

Have you tried to stimulate him to eliminate yet? That is urgent.

Can you look for goat milk?

I know it's overwhelming, but everything you're doing is critical to him being a healthy adult.

It's not ideal but I have raised newborn kittens on infant SOY milk mixed with a tiny anoint of infant rice cearal to prevent choking. Also baby wipes or cotten balls mixed with a no tears baby shampoo TO gently rub his genatels to stemulate him to pee and poop. His mother would normally lick thesee areas to get him to pee and poop. As the previous replies stated he needs a heat sorce. When you add rice cereal you can maybe feed every 3 hrs but I wouldn't go past that. Also if he is searching for a nipple after feeding he is not getting enough to eat. Goo luck, here is a pick of my current bottle baby...he is 3 weeks old.

sorry guys for not posting
well my kitten seems fine ! i took your advice ; i stimulate him to pee every feeding *he pees but no sign of pooping !
he's becoming more active lately he gets out of his box and walks around the room ; he doesn't sleep as much as he used to ! on the other hand now he eats about every 2/3 hrs !
for the milk i finally could find goat milk and i'll start giving it to him today
concerning his eyes i only found an antibiotic that's for kids over 8!!! so for now i'm stil wiping them with salty serum
i bought him a baby bottle today [emoji]128522[/emoji] i'll start using it instead of syringe -well . it's not ideal but it's the best i could find -
thank you all for your advice ; and if there is anything else please let me know !

Glad you found goat's milk! If he does not like the baby bottle you can continue with the syringe.

A cloth soaked in weak tea is also an affective eye cleaner.

If he does not poop soon, you can add a drop or two of olive or vegetable oil to his milk to soften his poop.

It's great that he is doing well! Keep us posted! [emoji]128522[/emoji]
