Hi there.
I am planing on switching my cat from canned food to a well balanced cooked diet. He is currently on Hill's I/D plus A/D. I need some advice on what to choose and what not to choose for an 16 year old cat with liver and kidney issues.
His favorite meat would be chicken/turkey/salmon/ tuna. He does not like the pork in the I/D cans. I am planning on using chicken thigh and some veggies. I know yam/pumpkin are good for digestion, so I will add that on.
Any nutritional supplement I should be getting for him? The vet gave him some vitamin D, and he does not like the taste.

I wouldn't add veggies. I'd suggest going with EZcomplete, as all you'll need to do is cook the boneless meat and add the pre-mix. It's totally suitable for CKD cats. Depending on what stage your CKD is in you may want to add a binder.

I strongly urge you to communicate with your vet on what is the appropriate diet for your cat. This is a question only your vet can answer because it depends on your cats particular situation. EZComplete and U-Stew are only supplement mixes. What you add them to, the meats and other ingredients, will determine the total make up of the food and that is what matters. A food made with one of them may well be totally inappropriate for your kitty.
