Hey fellow cat lovers,

My cats are fat and so I have started (again) to measure out their food. they have separate dishes but the problem is this, they eat from whatever bowl they want. How can I make sure they eat what they are supposed to eat? If one is a nibbler and the other one eats until he is full how can I supervise them? Or make sure they eat only what they are supposed to......

Hi,

Can you feed them in different rooms or put the nibbler down first and the other cat in your arms till the nibbler gets a chance to eat? I have an alpha cat that will chase the other away till he eats what he wants so I hold him till the beta cat gets at least half his dinner in.

My two cats eat different foods, and the solution has been that the older one eats on top of the book case. Yep. She can jump on the kitchen counter, and from there to the top of the book case. The younger can't get there, so that's where the older one eats. The younger cat eats on the table (I have dogs too, who'd love to get into some kitty food) but the older one doesn't go for her food.

I know mine is a special situation, but is there some place one of your cats can go and not the other? That'd solve the problem nicely. If not, maybe setting feeding schedules would work. I know nibblers don't like to eat at one go, you'd have to give the food several times a day, but they could get used to not having food available all the time.
