I have a kitten approximately 5 weeks old that was abandoned by it's mother. I bought cat formula and have been attempting to feed her through bottle and syringe. I've tried everything to get her to take to it but she has no desire to drink it. I tried a bit of canned food but she won't take to that. The only thing I can get her to eat is baby food meat and she will only take small amounts of that.
Any suggestions on what to do or try?

If you get one of those large syringes for feeding babies medicine (in the baby section of the supermarket or drug store) you can mix up some KMR kitten formula or goats milk with some baby food and canned food, the smooth pate type that doesn't have chunks or lumps in it (Sheba, Fancy Feast Kitten food, or if there is a Kroger near you, their brand ABOUND canned food grain free turkey & giblets (it ends up being better and cheaper than either Sheba or Fancy Feast because it's in the 5.5 oz. cans and sells for 69 cents a can (now, while it's on sale).  Make a soupy mixture and you can squirt it into her mouth -- the baby syringe comes with a rubber tip -- she's probably too old to be interested in a kitten nipple as she is getting teeth at 5 weeks.

She may have some problems because often if a baby is abandoned, the mother does so because there is something wrong with it.  It seems heartless but they move the rest of the litter somewhere else.  Therefore you shuold get this little one checked by a vet as soon as you can.
