My S.I.L. wrote me an e-mail saying this:

Hi Tamme,
I know you have done some research on the IAMS products. I was hoping you could tell me what you know about the puppy formulas. I think my new baby is being weaned on it and i am worried about changing her diet while she is so small. it would be sad to see her sick her first week here. thanks, g
Do y'all know what I can say to her? I was thinking something along the lines that said that as long as she changed the food slowly it should be fine...

what do you think?

(Mods if you need to move this, I understand)

Change over puppy diets as you would cat diets. Start mixing in the new food at about 25% more each week until they are fully on the new food in a month. Puppies have such interesting digestive systems in the first place and often eat ANYTHING laying around, which often gives them the runs (Sam ate a black walnut shell in the yard and had the runs for 5 days). You don't want to upset their digestive balance any more than you have to at that age.
