Hello!!!

My roommate and I have a sweet little 9 week old named Artemis who loves to get into my very curly hair when it's bedtime for us. She sleeps a good portion of the day while we are at work, but we give her love and attention when we are home.

She only goes after my hair, and it doesn't matter if I have a sleeping bonnet on. She still will try to get to my hair. She will also do this from time to time when I am on the couch. What can I do to break her of this? I havw read that it is her way of being affectionate, but I am also concerned that it might be Pica.

when my late cat mouse was a little kitten, she used to knead my head and suck my hair.  she stopped as she matured, so i figured it might be that the hairy portion of me - my head - reminded her more of mommy.

Cats chewing on hair is pretty standard in my experience (but I'm not an expert; this is just personal experience), so I wouldn't think about pica for it just being hair.

Just a random idea, could you try changing your shampoo, at least for a while? A lot of cats don't like citrus smells, so maybe you could switch to something orange or lemon-scented for a while. It probably wouldn't be strong enough to drive her off unless she put her face right in it.

More standard, see if you can get something that you don't mind her sucking on to redirect her to when she does this, then give her positive attention when she gets into that other item.

My 9-week old (I guess one week younger than yours) is also named Artemis. :-)
