Pooping and peeing in sink and tub?

My six month old cat Moscato has recently taken a liking to sinks and bathtubs. She grew interested with water faucets and would even stick her head under the sink head to lap up some water while I brushed my teeth. Then, one day, she squatted and peed in the sink right in front of me.

That didn't concern me so much as the poops did when they started showing up. At first I would come home to a poo in the downstairs bathroom sink which also happens to be the same room her litter box is in. I attributed that to her litter being dirty. Originally my roommate and I were mixing two different brands of litter, but not too long ago we started using only the cheapest of the two. It doesn't clump, so pee tends to settle at the bottom of the box. Two cats use the box so it doesn't take long for the smell of cat urine to grow fairly strong.

Moscato has also snuck into the upstairs bathroom while I'm showering (when home alone I leave the door open because she cries if I lock her out) and peed on the dirty clothes I'd just changed out of to shower.

I bought different litter and cleaned out their box completely today. This new litter clumps, and it's one of the types we used to mix in with the cheaper brand we had previously. I'm hoping that being able to scoop out the pee will solve the problem because Moscato is very princess-y: if something isn't absolutely to her liking, she won't eat/touch/play with it, lol. I'm praying this was just her way of telling me her litter box wasn't to her liking, so fingers crossed that it won't happen again.

Has anyone else experienced this type of behavior before?

Hi, i did not experience anything like that, but it is likely her way of telling you she did not like the change in litter. Oh, those picky kitties
Good thinking on going back to the litter she's used to. Maybe try Precious Cat litter attractant additive with her litter to encourage her to use it again?

But if she still doesn't use the box consider taking her to a vet to make sure nothing health related is causing this behavior.

Best of luck!

So far she's been using her box again, and I've been scooping it every time she and our other cat use it to keep it pristine. Hopefully that does the trick!

That's great :)

BTW, You should have more litter boxes since you've got more than one cat. General rule is one per cat + 1 extra.
