Both my cats are throwing up  a lot of hairballs.  Mittens is shedding a lot, too.  I dont know what else I can do about this; Mittens is on Vet's Best Hairball remedy; Obi is on psyllium (he throws up the Vets Best); I am also giving each cat TWO capsules of egg yolk lecithin a day,  a probiotic and Welactin, which is an omega oil product.   Please, no suggestions to give the Laxatone type products, been there done than, not effective.  FYI, Obi is also on pred. Both bet brushed daily with the furminator.

Any suggestions appreciated.

What kind of food are you feeding them?  Wet or dry?  I feed primarily wet low carb food (ie. Sheba pate, Friskies pate and Abound grain free chicken) with dry crunchies for "dessert" or treats (just regular Iams healthy adult chicken), and with 15 cats here at present, it is rare for any of them to vomit hairballs.  I do groom them particularly during heavy shedding season (spring) but they have healthy shiny coats and are at a good weight, either slim or more full figured but not obese.  Their coats are very soft and they don't have dandruff, so I believe that shows healthy skin.  Check the ingredients in the food you are feeding and try to have a diet that is high in animal proteins (not vegetable proteins), moderate in fat, and very low in carbohydrates.  Cats do need a lot of fat in their diet, and many commercial foods give them carbohydrates instead.

They both get Nature's Variety. Canned. It's the best I can find, no grains fillers or additives.
