My latest foster cat had 6 kittens two weeks ago. She was a stray living on the street. She is caliby with medium fur, she looks a bit exotic.

One of her kittens was completely white when born. I know most white kittens are born white with a few coloured hairs on the forehead that eventually disappear. I have owned a pure white cat. I have been wondering if she may be deaf. (because of being completely white) I also wondered if she would develop points. At 2 weeks, she is still completely white. Her eyes are blue (a little more blue that the typical blue) Also, she can't meow. She tries, but it sounds like raspy air. She seems to "talk" alot and is much more alert than her siblings. She is also the runt.

Anyway, I'm really leaning to possibility of her being deaf. I've always had a soft spot for white cats. She has stole my heart from day one.

I worry about the home she will go to. I"m hoping not to be a foster failure. I already have 3 cats and two dogs!

Does anyone know at what age a kitten would develop points? Is there any sure way of testing for deafness? Does anyone have a deaf cat? Is it white?

The ideal way would be to visit a vet, but the cheapest way is to take her to a quiet room with no distractions and make an unfamiliar noise without drawing her visual attention to yourself before hand. For example crinkling a crisps bag, or clang something.. if she is spooked, or immediatly shows interest in the new sound than she can hear you.

They are still a bit young but that would def work in another week or two. I've tried making high pitched noises but I think they are too young to track sound well. Their ears are still fairly flat :)

I agree that it will be easier to tell in a few weeks. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
