So, kiki came to me last winter as a stray, healthy and a little underfed if anything. She's an excellent hunter. She adopted me and I took full responsibility for her. I took her to be spayed back then and my vet clearly pointed out a surgical scar on her belly and said she'd already been spayed. She hated the house to the point of throwing herself into windows and attacking people to get outside..so I let her have her way and she happily took up residence on my porch and never left. Other cats came and went, coming to eat her food and disappearing the moment the porch light came on.. but I never worried. She never fought them, she's had her shots and she's spayed.. no worries.

Fast forward to now and I swear she's pregnant. Her habits have changed, she's begging to come indoors and seeking out places to hide like cramming herself under my couch or getting into my cupboards. She's eating a lot more and when she's not eating she's sleeping. Her nipples are swollen and enlarged.. if i pet her belly I can feel them sticking up.. her belly is round and she looks sway backed.. She's also rubbing against everything from the wall to me to the couch and purring for the first time I've ever heard her purr in almost a year. Everything points to her being pregnant.

So now I'm in this position of am I crazy or am I going to have a very long talk with my vet monday morning. I've never had a pregnant cat, so I'm in the dark on this matter. I'm confused and feeling pretty stupid right now.

Does she appear pregnant to you?

It's hard to say with those pictures. Do you have pictures of her belly? Like upside down on her back.

No I don't, she won't lay with her belly exposed. She has a catitude, if I try to convince her to position herself in a "this is what Im talking about" postion she bites me, which isnt like her either. Shes never tolerated being picked up, but other than that until recently I could do pretty much whatever I wanted and she just looked at me like.. are you done yet?

I did manage to sneak a few pictures of her that give away her belly.

Many cats gain weight after they are spayed. The best way to know for sure if she's pregnant is to have an x-ray done at the vet. She does not look pregnant in the pictures.

I know cats gain weight after they are spayed. But this quick onset of weight gain and increased appetite makes little to no sense considering the vet told me she had already been spayed almost a year ago and it was an old scar then. So if she is spayed she has been spayed atleast 2 years. She has only put on weight and started eating more in the last few weeks.

i am not an expert but she looks pregnant to me.
comparing the pictures taken recently with that photo from a month ago, it looks like she gain weight only on her belly area and how has the vet decided she is spayed only by seeing a scar? she could've had any other surgery on that area right?
i also have a spayed cat and she gained weight very fast after the surgery, and she is not fat in only one area
but as i said i am not an expert, so the best thing you can do is bring her to the vet and get an x-ray done
don't forget to let us know if she is pregnant or not!
