I never lost a cat before. And even though I thought I'd be prepared if it ever happens, I obviously wasn't. We lost our Delilah last monday, and I have cried for days on end. I have seen her get born, helped her learn how to use the litterbox, fed her her first wetfood and kibbles, took her to the vet for her first vaccinations... The 2nd vaccination sadly enough would be her end. Delilah only lived to be 14 weeks old.

I miss you, my little sunshine <3 And I will never forget you :(

i am so sorry to learn of your sweet baby's passing to the Raainbow Bridge.my little Willow has problems with the shots as well and we came so close to losing her when she got her one year shots. She is totally inside and I decided she isn't getting anymore! My daughter also had a kitten that could not take shots! He went into shock with his very first set of injections. Fortunately we had not left the clinic yet so the vet took him right back. My heart goes out to you! Losing such a young one, a baby, is especially difficult!

I'm so sorry for your loss of your dear Delilah. She knew an amazing amount of love in her all too short time with you. She wanted for nothing because of your love and care. Delilah knew nothing but love. I'm so sorry, she is gone far too soon.

Losing such a beautiful little girl who was so loved and wanted is tragic and unfair. I will never understand why these special sweethearts are called away, especially under circumstances that involve us trying to make their lives better. No matter how hard we try to be prepared, it will never happen. The blow to our hearts is traumatic, and the hole it leaves takes a long time to heal. She received 14 weeks of love and attention, for that she will always love you, and she will treasure that piece of your heart that she took with her, just as you will treasure that piece that she left behind for you to hold. Try to concentrate on what she brought into your life, not hold on to the pain and grief when she left it. She needed you and you were there. You would have lost much if she would have never come into your home, it would have been tragic to never have known her at all.

Go ahead and cry, I still cry at times almost four years later. it releases some of the pent up pain, and cleanses the soul. She would never want you to go on living in such pain, she loved you too much for that. Make yourself feel better by taking that legacy of love she left for you and use it to do good in her name and to honor that precious little girl and all that she meant to you.  Pay for an adoption at your local shelter in Delilah's name.  As you are a breeder, find only the best loving homes you can for those entrusted to your care. Donate a kitten to someone who has more love than money, but is able to provide the care and a home to be loved in.  It helps to know you are doing something good out of something so heartbreaking.  You can never replace that love you felt for each other, it is too rare and precious. But you can add another love to your heart, it is big enough to accept many loves, each one special and different like a loving mother with many children, you have had and will know many loves, I pray that you will know no more losses.  Time is your friend, in time the grief will soften and you will allow yourself to be happy again. It is as she would want for someone she loved above all else, it is only right that you bring back the sunshine into your heart for her to warm herself in, not have her dwell in a dark and sorrowful place.

Thank you for letting us know of this precious little girl, she deserves to be mourned by many, and I will hold you both in my thoughts and prayers, take care and know you are not alone in your grief.......RIP little Delilah, you brought so much happiness in your short time on this earth, please send comfort to the one who will always hold you in a loving heart, and know you will be missed dearly. Goodnight sweet Princess!

I'm very sorry you lost your gorgeous little kitten. Delilah was beautiful, and it's terrible that her life was cut so short.

Hi Biancavd,

Just saw your message. AWWW. How sad that after poor Delilah got her second shot, and she died! :-( I had a problem with my smaller cat Rascal getting shots. When they tried to give him these two shots he needed for his vaccine, he had a reaction to the shots. He got sick and threw up.  Luckily he didn't die. We called the vet, and she told us to give him part of this antihistamine pill. We did, and that helped. From then on, we put on his report that he wasn't able to get his shots all at once. He gets his one shot at a time. I guess it's like people. You never know how you will react to a certain medication until you take it. So sorry that your poor baby died from her shots. That's true, that you do all you can to improve their lives, and then something like this happens. Who knows what caused her to die. Maybe she had a weak heart, or some infection. But I would definitely let the vet know what happened, so that your other cats don't suffer the same fate. It's always sad to lose a pet. After all my dogs died, I was really sad. And even when that poor little kitten was attacked by this dog coming onto our property because of this irresponsible owner, that was sad too. Delilah sure was pretty cat. So sad that her life was cut short. Hopefully she didn't suffer. My prayers are with you at this difficult time. So sorry for your loss! God Bless You and God Bless Delilah.

Hugs, and Love,

Nancy, Rascal, and Shadow

I am so sorry for your loss. Whether it's fourteen weeks or fourteen years, the death of a beloved fur baby is very difficult. No one on this site regards their babies as "just" cats. They are our children. Treasure the brief time you had with Delilah. Her earthly journey was brief, but she has left her paw print on your heart. Rest in peace, pretty girl.
