Hello I am new here just wanted to ask if anyone knows how long a cat will mourn the loss of their Pal cat.

My Shadow cat died suddenly yesterday from a seizure.  I believe he had kidney issues, we had him on a wet diet.  Anyway, we have or had four cats and two were very close.  He is the one that passed.  Mya my female has been wondering the house looking for her pal.

How long do you think she will mourn him?

All my cats are resued ferrel cats.

The best way to help cats cope with the loss of their buddy is to try to make their days as normal as possibly. Distracting them with one on one playing time is good for their grieving process.
They greive losses like we do ours. Every cat has a different response but it's good to give them more time

I am having the same issue with my cats . We lost our sweet Mittins from kidney failure she was 9 and my youngest his name is Shadow he is 11 months and they were buds always chasing and playing with one another since she died which has only been a few days things have been rough for him . He sleeps a lot and just walks around looking for her . I pray that things get better with your babies and I will try to play more with him and do some more one on one activities to see if he improves .

When my Wellington lost his brother he mourned for over 6 weeks, wandering the house crying and meowing as he searched for him. He didn't really stop until a new kitten joined the house (he ignored the existing cats) and he just decided to 'adopt' her. They became best buddies and are still inseparable 9 years later. Sadly. last week we lost the third cat who became part of their sub-group, and although the remaining two are comforting each other, it is clear that they are missing Persil. One can only give them love and attention.

Is Mya now the only cat in the household? If there is another cat, she might buddy up to that one, I've seen that happen.

In my experience, it takes at least a few weeks for cats to adjust to a loss. When we mourn the loss of one of our cats, our other cats sense our grief and are also affected by it, so part of their recovery is linked with ours, too. Spend extra time with her, that will help.
