How did he do with the pain meds? FLoey didn't sleep much on them but they sure helped. Like Cat nap said-they stretch out and relax better.

The side effects are mostly for rare times this could happen. Most times they get a bit sleepy and may not want to be messed with but you can try it once and see. Either way it will help whatever is going on. Cat nap gave you good instructions about feeding...small often meals is better than larger ones. this helps him digest a little at a time. easier on his stomach and keep the blood sugar at a stable level.

How is Mukkia this morning? Did he sleep with you? Honeybee crawled up on me last night around midnight and I kept her covered up with her blanket and she purred most of the night away. I love this cool weather. it was 36 this morning. I kept the window cracked so it cools off as then Miss Honeybee will snuggle with me

Yes, they gave me a hand full of needles.

I had a feeling that something was not right, and sure enough he has been throwing up his medicine right after I give to him. He has been hiding it In his litter box.
I even continue to hold him for a while after I give him his medicine. They are smarter than most people give them credit for.
My last idea is to put him in his carrier from now on until I know for sure that he has his medicine in his system. That's my last option.
The only medicine he did not throw up was the Buprenophine last night. He did well on it.
He seemed to not ' feel bad' he was walking into everything so I had to watch him for a while. Then he laid down, and rolled around, and around. Then he went to sleep. The dose of the Buprenophine is 0.15 cc.

I leave a window open for Mukkia as well, but last night I kept him at ground level. His hind legs were very weak. His front legs were okay, but his hind legs were extremely flimsy. He is OK, his pupils are huge, he is pretty upset with me after giving him his Sucralfate.
Yes, he did sleep next to me last night. I did not sleep, because the only time Mukkia has been given something that strong was when he was neutered when he was a kitten. So,I was concerned as to how he was going to react to this medicine.

(The only thing I noticed in my cat was being sleepy and less tense after the buprenorphine, because he was able to stretch out while sleeping onto his side versus hunched meatloaf position.
The eye pupil dilation occurred later, as I mentioned above. My guy was only on 0.2mg/ml dosage, and it was administered in individual syringes at 0.1 ml per small syringes.)

Side effects for animals are very hard to predict. Since each animal is different.
It's very natural to be nervous.

Did the Vet give you individual syringes for Mukkia of the pain meds, or show you how to fill your own syringe?
Take a fine-tip dark marker and mark the line, of the individual gradients of the syringe, so that you know it's always the same.

Have you been able to assist feed Mukkia some food by syringe?
I found that if you made the food into a soupy, watery warm paste, and filled it by opening the larger syringes and stuffing them from the plunger side, it was faster to fill.
Then turning the syringe and pushing on the plunger to eliminate the air pockets. Keeping the left over food inside a plastic container.
The videos helped me a lot.

Giving the cat more feedings, every three to four hours or so. And recording how much he ate, time of meds, how he acted, etc.

Sending Healthy thoughts and prayers for Mukkia. :vibes: :vibes:
I was able to get the A/D in him after an hour or so of his first dose of the Buprenophine last night. The medicine was in a regular medicine bottle, and inside the bottle was another small glass bottle. I put the needle through the top of the rubber lid, and then draw the Buprenophine out in the syringe, then remove the needle and apply on the upper gum under his lip.

I have spent over $1000.00 dollars for my Mukkia in two weeks. I don't have any other options. The ER for today will be $300.00.
Mukkia is literally slowly starving. I can't keep doing this. This is me trying to save him, but I can't. It is impossible for me to prevent him from throw up to the point where he is only throwing up his stomach acid. The Sucralfate is not working. Is this the point where I let my Mukkia, my heart go? [emoji]128148[/emoji][emoji]128148[/emoji][emoji]128148[/emoji][emoji]128148[/emoji][emoji]128148[/emoji][emoji]128575[/emoji][emoji]128575[/emoji][emoji]128575[/emoji][emoji]128575[/emoji][emoji]128575[/emoji][emoji]128148[/emoji][emoji]128148[/emoji][emoji]128148[/emoji][emoji]128148[/emoji][emoji]128148[/emoji][emoji]128148[/emoji][emoji]128575[/emoji][emoji]128575[/emoji][emoji]128575[/emoji][emoji]128575[/emoji][emoji]128575[/emoji][emoji]128148[/emoji][emoji]128148[/emoji][emoji]128148[/emoji][emoji]128148[/emoji][emoji]128148[/emoji]

can you hold off on that medication? did you end up getting the Zofran and Pepcid? I would hold off on that med as it seems it is causing vomiting. the bupre will be fine. You can get ahold of your vet and ask if you can give Pepcid. I would also try Cerenia to see if it helps...Let me look to see if there is anything else...

oh slippery elm bark is another thing-google it. some health food stores carry it, its a bark off a tree-you cook a cup of water to boiling with this in it-simmer for 10 min or something-let it cool and give it after. it tastes yucky but I have heard many people say it helps upset stomach. not sure what you have near you. if you were near me I would give you my bottle of slippery elm. but the vet can give an injection to stop the vomiting. and see what you want to do.

I am so sorry this is going on.

Do you have a credit card? If the vomiting isn't stopping in the next hour he needs to be seen. You can give subfluids now. If he is vomiting he needs all the fluids..I wish they gave you injectionable Cerenia and Pepcid because this would help calm this down. I know we never found out what is going on.

sometimes I know you don't like to use too many meds but when uncontrol vomiting we need to intervene with medication. He has to feel pretty crappy. I doubt the vomiting is from bupre especially if it was given last night and he didn't vomit.

Cerenia/Zofran-get some into him. Pepcid too. Sub fluids...stay with us if you need help. I wish I was near you so I could come over and help determine the next steps...like an in
between from home to vet..is what I wish we had. Someone to come over and help figure out if its an emergency or if there are other options...I guess a visiting cat nurse?

Here is some information I copied from a website petMD: (this sounds like early morning vomiting on empty stomach)

"The classic symptom of bilious vomiting syndrome is vomiting on an empty stomach. This often occurs first thing in the morning since many cats don’t eat throughout the night. Because the cat’s stomach is empty, all that comes up is fluid, mucus, and often some bile, which may tinge everything an orangey-brown color. Cats with bilious vomiting syndrome have no other gastrointestinal symptoms (diarrhea, weight loss, poor appetite, etc.).

Most cats with bilious vomiting syndrome respond well to more frequent feedings. If the vomiting typically occurs in the morning, feed a meal right before bedtime and then first thing in the morning. As long as weight gain is not a concern, leaving food out all day and night long is a good option. An automatic feeder can also be used to offer small, measured meals at regular intervals throughout the day and night. Some veterinarians also recommend switching cats to a high protein diet, ideally canned, as part of the treatment for bilious vomiting syndrome.

When a cat who is suspected of having bilious vomiting syndrome doesn’t get better after eating more frequent meals and other causes of chronic vomiting have been ruled out, medications can be added to the treatment plan. Some cats respond to drugs that reduce gastric acidity, like famotidine (which is PEPCID) or omeprazole (PRILOSEC), while others do better with metoclopramide(reglan), a medication that increases the frequency of contractions within the small intestines, or maropitant (Cerenia), a broad spectrum anti-vomiting drug."

I don't know if this will help=but hopefully if we can get some medications in him to stop the vomiting then reevaluate what the next step is. Does the vet think that this is a short illness or? Or did you not get a definite diagnosis?

Sending you hugs

He is just laying on my chest. His right pupil is not black it is a maroon type color. He has not had a bowel movement in a week. No vet will prescribe Mukkia any more anti nausea medicine. The reaction was too bad. Pepcid was the only one that he didn't have a reaction to.

I agree, I don't think the Buprenophine is not causing the vomiting, because he was doing it before I gave him any. I have just been trying to stay positive and keep him here. But, he is just laying on my chest and growling every now and then. I am not even holding him in place. I will try at least the fluids SQ. I don't know what to do after that, except the last act oove I can show him. Even though it is breaking my heart. do you have a home visiting vet to come over and evaluate? I am so sorry. Did you give him the morning dose of pain meds? If he is growling his tummy hurts..I sure wish I could talk to your vet....Zofran can help..god I get so mad when they don't listen to people who have been down this road before...sub fluids will help.

no I just couldn't remember off the top of my head...I so wish they would try a combo med to get the stomach relaxed.

If you have a home vet they can come preform the service so Mukkia will not have to be stressed out in a vets office. But me personally I couldn't handle this. It was easier for me to bring Floey to the vet than do it inhome but that's just me.

No, unfortunately I don't have anything like that in my area. Why is this pupil a maroonish color?
I am going to do the fluids SQ now.
Thank you for helping me out. I am so completely crushed. This us not an ulcer, he would not have all of this happening, but I don't understand why every veterinarian said lymphoma, but it would not show up in the blood unless it was affecting the liver, and I don't know what the other organs were mentioned. I was really praying for just an ulcer

The issue with cancer is there is no definitive diagnosis via blood work. The only thing Floey showed in her bloodwork was high white blood cells but the blood work we did at her regular vet didn't blink an eye. I drove an hour and half to a new vet and he said her levels were too high. He said cancer can cause a whats called sepsis. He said the white blood cells on paper look normal as they are in the normal range but I guess they were high for a cat her age. That was the only thing that showed anything wrong other than she also had elevated T4 and liver enzymes but the liver enzymes were still in the normal range. the T4 were over the normal limit but at that point we just decided there was too much going on. Especially after the ultrasound showing the cancer and other bad stuff going on. We didn't opt for treatment. There was too much going on not to mention she had a heart condition and it was getting noticeable with stress.

I hope you can be at peace with whatever you decide. The thing is-no matter how many vets we through at it-sometimes we will never know...I  only hope you know to not be hard on yourself. It's not like you didn't try. You have tried everything. So please be kind to yourself. This is the last act of love we have to do. And I am tearing up wishing I was closer to you so you don't have to go through this alone. Sending all my love.

I did end up giving him 150cc's. Hopefully, this will perk him up. I am going to try my best to at least keep him here today. I don't want an ER vet to be the last place he goes. I am trying so so so so very hard here.

it will take a few hours to soak in. But yes can you email your vet and get some Pepcid in him? I really think Pepcid will at least keep him comfortable enough so you can feed him.

do you have babyfood meat?

you can try plain chicken. I found that kfc classic fried chicken=no skin/bones was the best tempting thing. Floey LOVED her fried chicken. the dark meat actually is greasier and more appealing to them than breast meat. She also snacked on turkey drumsticks from the prepared food section in the grocery store. At this point-let him eat whatever he wants. Canned tuna works. Some people use canned chicken.

shrimp is another favorite in this house. I had a cat once who loved scrambled eggs. plain yogurt. one or all of these would be fine. You can think of it as a fun supper for him. and of course continue with the pain meds.

I know, I am just feeling nervous about the fluids this time, because I probably should have stayed at the 100cc's.
I can email them, but they will not receive it until tomorrow. So, I guess no.
I know that I can buy regular people Pepcid, but I don't know how much to give him now that he weighs less than before. At 8.4lbs I think it was one tablet scored in 4ths, one of the fourth. Maybe I can try to make to 1/8 just to be safe?
YES, I will feed him ANYTHING he will eat I actually just tried to feed him some Salman. He just kept looking at me.
I will try something else in a bit, maybe once his body absorbs the fluids he will feel better. I am praying. He is actually no longer laying on me he is just sitting on the floor. He is not running from me, he is just growling at me. ' completely out of character for his personality. Idk.
