We are a family of 6. Myself, hubby &
4 kids. My male just started spraying. He's approx 9m old. Anyway, last weekend he jumped up on my jewelry box on my dresser and proceeded to spray the mirror, the next night he jumped up on the bed with me (he always hangs with me) and sprayed me [emoji]128563[/emoji]! What in the world is wrong with him??? I understand males will spray, but why only my things and WHY would he actually spray me??

Is your cat fixed? If not getting him fixed would be very helpful.

I do not have any ideas as to why he is spraying only you and your things.

He's getting fixed today. I just don't understand why he's marking me :/ this cat loves me!! Like he's freakishly attached to me! Idk why he would do that! I put him outside for a few days. He's at the vet now for neuter.

I am going to try bumping this thread up in hopes that you will get more replies from someone who has experience with this issue.  Sorry I was not able to give you better advice but I have never dealt with this issue before.

He's marking his territory by spraying. It's what all male cats do when they're not neutered. This likely would have never began happening if he had been fixed several months ago when he was just entering puberty.

His being fixed will almost assuredly stop the spraying. Putting him outside is not what is or was good for him. Cats lives are shortened dramatically when they're allowed to go outside because they're hit by cars, attacked by other animals, or even stolen. Plus they're nuisances to your neighbors.

Please keep him inside once he is back in your care. Update us on how he's doing.

The spaying is about territory. He is marking you as his along with your stuff. Once he is neutered it should stop, but not necessarily right away. Hormones stay in the system for a while after neutering.
