Ok so my male is 9 months old. We got him when he was 6 weeks old, for the longest he was thought to be a she! Theeeen one day he was laying with me and boom his penis popped out!! I suppose he was approx 4 months at that time. Around the same time his testicle began to show in his scrotum. Now, he's been around 2 females in heat and barely showed interest. He's always been a bit "girly" lol well today he's at the vet to be neutered. The vet has called and they couldn't locate but one testicle. So now I have no idea if he was born with just one or what?? The Vet said she could not palpate one internally at all.....the exploratory is $150 (which I don't have) I told them to just go ahead with his neuter....

It is possible he was only born with one testicle.  One of my friends took a kitten she rescued off the streets in to be spayed and he only had one testicle.  I would go ahead and get him fixed.

I had one that was like that.....thought both were down at 10 months, so did the vet and we found only one very tiny testicle and palpation gave no hint of another. The second one descended when he was three. He never sired any kittens, but did love being around them....almost like he never grew up.

Did you get him neutered? Like the one testicle?

I went ahead with the neuter. They will only take the one. I opted out of the exploratory surgery...

He or his brother recently fathered a litter of my female. His brother hated the kittens, he loved on them and cleaned them!

No, never did the one that showed up as he got older....his breathing was too compromised due to laryngeal paralysis to stand anesthetics. He died at 6 from pneumonia from aspirating food or water.
Oh no :( I'm so sorry

My boy had two lovely little....testicles and they removed them but left the sacks, so my boy has what I called 'modesty balls' ;) I never mucked about with them because I just didn't feel it was needed.

I work with horses and a colt with 1 testicle is called a 'rig'. Very often, they will castrate them but look for signs of testosterone. I think they can check with blood work or some form of a test, but that's for horses. Is this maybe an option for your kitty?
