Hi guys,

Today I brought home a kitten from work. Her owners didn't want her and one of our letter carriers brought her back from his route. After getting her home I noticed that she seemed to have runny stools and some trouble cleaning herself afterwards which may or not be just because she's stressed out right now. When I cleaned her up I saw that her poor little bum is red and swollen and sore to the touch.

Her first vet appointment isn't until next week and as of right now it doesn't seem to be an emergency. Is there anything I can do to help relieve her discomfort? I have no idea how old she is  but I would roughly guess about 5 months.

Poor little girl.  Bless you for taking her in. She's really very pretty.

Try warming up a little olive oil to room temperature and apply it sparingly to the sore area.   That often helps.   If the runny stools don't clear up, you can also try giving her about 1 tbs of  canned pumpkin (no spices.) once a day.

Thanks for the reply. I will have to try and see if that helps. She's pretty alert and drinking water right now so I'm taking that as a good sign.

She should likely get an antibiotic shot--there is a specific one for this condition as my boy had it. He had pancreatitis and bad runs and his poor little bottom was raw red and swollen. The vet clinic shaved his tushie, washed it and then antibiotic shot and it cleared up within a day!

Good luck---what a little cutie pie!

Stress and diet change can cause digestive issues. Lots of cuddles and snuggles will help her/him settle in.

That's a Siamese kitty and I'm shocked the post man found this! Is she not microchipped? No one looking for her/him?

No microchip. Her previous owners had gotten her for their child and then later decided that they didn't want her so they were just trying to get rid of the poor thing. Maybe because see was sick I don't really know their whole story.

Poor little girl.  I hope she gets better.  She's really a doll.  Hugs to the little cutie

She's being babied like crazy, the boyfriend barely puts her down and she's loving it. Vet appointment was moved up to Monday so hopefully she gets some relief soon.
