Hi everyone,

My cat went through about a month long of inconclusive tests, so we started her on Budesonide 1 mg treatment. Within the first day she is eating everything again. She hasn't touched dry food in months. This is a sign she is feeling better (as well as not crying throughout the night for food and won't eat). She does seem to be improving.

That said, she did vomit twice this week, I think because she hasn't eaten dry food and can't digest easily. She will be on this medicine for 4-6 weeks.

Can anyone share what positive and/or negative results I should keep an eye on with this medicine?

And after this treatment, how do you manage IBD? Our vet is great and provides answers to my questions, but I feel like I get more from your personal experiences.

Actually dry food is often not as easily digested as wet food.  My IBD kitty is on another steroid, Prednisolone and has been for 5 1/2 years.  If it's only been a week it could well be that the inflammation hasn't fully resolved yet, hopefully the vomiting will cease soon.

This is a good web site with lot's of info about IBD kitties  http://www.ibdkitties.net/   What works well for each kitty is very unique to each kitty.  It's often a matter of trial and error to find what will work.

Join this FB group and check out their website. They are AMAZING and have saved so many cats lives with their information about nutrition as treatment for IBD. You're going to have the throw the dry food out because it only makes IBD worse. While you don't have to go raw, homecooked or raw is the best form of treatment nutritionally.
