Cat urinating on furniture

My cat continuously pees on the futon in our front room. She has recently been to the vet and given a clean bill of health. I figured she was doing it because I am a bad cat owner when it comes to cleaning the litter and only do it about every two days. I've been getting better and have been cleaning daily, but she continued to pee on the futon. I figured she could still smell the pee so I threw that futon out and replaced it with a brand new one. I put it together yesterday and this morning I noticed a wet spot that smelled faintly of cat pee. Does anyone have any tips on how to prevent her from urinating on our futon?

Hi and welcome.

While it could be the box isn't being kept as clean as she'd like, it also could be many other reasons.

Since the vet has said she's healthy, perhaps try a new style of litter box.  She may need one larger, more deep or, even uncovered if hers currently has a lid.  The litter itself too, might be the problem.  Try swapping it for something different.  Also, she may be one of those cats who dislike peeing and pooping in the same box - many do.  Add another litter box and see if that helps.

Does she poo in the box, but only pee on the futon?   Have you cleaned the floor area also? She might still be smelling remnants of her urine in the area which attracted her back.

Thank you so much sivyaleah for the resources! I tried searching the forum and a ton of results popped up with problems that didn't exactly relate to mine.

We have two litter boxes. I have a small one I the front room and I only ever find poop in there. We have a bigger one in the bedroom and she poops and urinates in it. I'll be trying a few of the solutions in the links, though!
