I am fostering a 7-14 day old kitten with a surrogate nursing mother.  I noticed behaviors yesterday...kicking "bunny feet" with her back feet, biting, etc. ...the baby is very small.  She seems to otherwise be taking good care of her...holding her to clean her and nursing her. But she is acting like she's "checking the box"..you can tell her heart is not int it.  And she keeps bringing the baby to me in her mouth, cleaning it and then walking away.  Last night she left the baby in the middle of my bedroom, cold and on the wood floor.  This morning i felt a tumor down low in the baby's abdomen -- taking her to vet at 4 today.  Wonder if the surrogate mom is abandoning or trying to abandon?

Wonder what it is .  That small kittens shall not have any tumor, but apparently its something.

Please report back what it was.

Hi there and thanks for the concern...he didn't think it was anything to worry about -- just stool and recommended laxatone. Unfortunately though, this morning when i checked on her she was cold and droopy and she passed away about 2 hours later. on the way to the vet  Very sad.  Poor baby kitten.

Thanks for your concern I appreciate it so much.

bellab1 the team at TCS are so very sorry for your loss.

We will lock this thread now, out of respect for this little girl.  Please, if you would like to, start a tribute thread in our Crossing the Bridge forum.

RIP little one
