Hi:  I live in Israel.  The roaches here make the NY Roaches look like weaklings.  Normally, I have an exterminator every year.  The effects last for over 1 year.  The exterminator I use said many of his clients have dogs and cats and the chemicals he uses are pet friendly.  My new cat, is just regaining his strength and I need to make sure I keep him out of harm's way.  He has small kidneys for his size, so  I need to make sure he is not stressed and eats the right foods. He is doing great.

I am afraid to let him exterminate my apartment.  I would bring my cat to my vet's who will board him for an entire day and night for me.  But I am still hesitant.

What do you guys do in terms of exterminating?  Are there cat friendly sprays?  It is summer here for the past 2 months and the roaches are large and out there.

I actually don't know what to do. This is my first year not exterminating.

Hi Joyce - I've had terrible issues with roaches due to a vindictive neighbor who was disrespectful to my landlord let a bunch loose.

I'm in NYC area and while they aren't bad now, I still get a few lone roaches trying to repopulate.

I'm lucky, the roaches are only in certain kitchen area near sink so they are easily controlled.

May I ask what room is your infestation?

Right now I'm using the gel by combat.  You can put it along the floor board, behind fridge etc.  What I've done is use little cupcake liners and put a dime size gel and place it out of contact - above cabinet, behind counter etc, and then I put the large hotel next to it.

The gel is pretty effective but you will have to vacuum the dead bug shells often.

They also sell the non toxic white powder that the exterminators use, perhaps you can order online if the local hardware stores don't stock it.  I forget the name.  They hate vinegar, so you can wipe down area's with that and leave vinegar soaked paper towel in certain areas, the only thing is your house will smell like a salad.

Hope you get relief, this took a toll on us.  I feel for you.

Best - Hope

we, too, have used the gel and it's amazingly effective.  you can put it way out of the reach of cats and kids, and the roaches find it.  the first time i used the gel, one of our neighbors thoroughly infested several apartments around them including ours.  everyone else had an exterminator - we used the gel, and after about 8 days of finding dead roaches every day, although less each day, we never saw another one and didn't need an exterminator.

Hi everyone.  I am not infested.  What I meant to say is that I want to put something down that is cat friendly as I always had an exterminator come once a year and their poison lasts for over a year.  He told me it was pet friendly, but I was still hesitant.

I want to use something effective but not deadly for cats.  I am an American living in Israel so I don't have the same access to what you do, wish I did.

What is the name of the gel?

So glad there's no infestation.

This is the gel, it also comes in a double pack, gel and roach motels.

I use it now to control WHERE the roaches are, I'll put it behind my kitchen cabinet, next to the fridge.  Now my cabinets are portable so I can pull it out if needed, and my fridge is small so I can move it myself.  And I also put some along the floor baseboard where there's a slight crack, and behind toilet.  As I said, I use cupcake holders, then after the gel dries you can just throw it out and start fresh.

I also put the gel next to the motels then they belly up to the gel then to into the motel for a gooooooooood nights sleep. LOL

It's been very effective and easier than the powders.

Hope this helped.

I'm not sure of regulations are as far as ordering online in Israel but you can probably check it out.

Good luck!!!
