My cat Rosie has been diagnosed with early stage kidney disease and I'm supposed to transition her to the canned Purina kidney function diet by slowly mixing the new food with the old gradually increasing the new food over the course of a week or two. But she doesn't want to eat it even if it's mixed with another cat food. She wants her regular cat food without the kidney diet.

First, let me say that I was saddened to hear about Rosie's recent diagnosis.

Secondly, full disclosure here, I have minimal knowledge or expirence with kidney disease. I have a cat that has a history with crystals and she was to be on prescription urinary food but refused to eat it and I was less than thrilled with the ingredients. After research and recommendations from TCS members I found a food made by Dave's Pet Food, which was specifically formulated for cats with urinary issues. I ran it by my vet who approved trying it: My cat is obsessed with it...yay!!!
I mention Dave's Pet Food because they make a version for cats who need a special kidney diet:

You could check with your vet and look it up on this site:

I hope you are able to find something Rosie will like as well as support her kidneys [emoji]128591[/emoji][emoji]127995[/emoji][emoji]10084[/emoji]️

And right after I lost Spotty to kidney disease Rosie has it too! The prescription food is bland. I don't get why the companies don't make palatable kidney diets!

I think that was the same issue with the urinary perscription food: it was probably very bland. The Dave's made a huge difference. I'm thrilled to see her happily eating away while I feel good that her needs of extra urinary support are being taken care of.

Hang in there....I read about Spotty also...I'm so sorry. Rosie's diagnosis must be so devastating. I've read your posts on cat nutrition: you are smart and you will find something that works for Rosie. This one particular food is not the only thing out there for cats in kidney disease.
